'The Smurfs' finally hit the big screen in August

Well, I was right this is just like Alvin and the Chipmunks which means I'm no longer interested. 

It's really too bad.  *sigh* Why couldn't they have just made the whole thing CGI.

Well, I've been talking about this quite a bit over the past 4 years or so. But it looks like The Smurfs will finally indeed be hitting a theatre near you next summer.

The teaser trailer doesn't reveal much does it?. I guess that's why they call them teasers lol. The Smurfs don't look half bad though I must say. I just hope there's a good story.

Also why did they have to make it 3-D that was cool when I was 12 now I could really do without it. CGI by itself is cool enough in my opinion.

And I was also hoping they would make it fully animated not live action as the trailer seems to indicate again it's not like CGI couldn't have created a perfectly realistic Central Park.

This could turn out to be another Alvin and the Chipmunks but I'll remain optimistic until it's actual release.

Things to look forward to in 2010

There's just no better combination then Johnny Depp and Tim Burton. Another awesomely weird creation I can't wait to see!.

Sandra Bullock double feature

As described on imdb Convinced that a CNN cameraman is her true love, an eccentric crossword puzzler (Bullock) trails him as he travels all over the country, hoping to convince him that they belong together.

Hmmm...can't say I'm really impressed by the trailer. It might turn out to be another dud. But it's still Sandra Bullock so I'll probably check it out on DVD.



imdb description "The Blind Side" depicts the remarkable true story of Michael Oher, a homeless African-American youngster from a broken home, taken in by the Touhys, a well-to-do white family who help him fulfill his potential.

I can already tell this one is going to be a real tear-jerker. Can't wait!. It's been a while since Sandra played in a drama. Who knows, this one might even be an award contender.

Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen trailer

I'm not a huge movie goer probably because there just aren't that many great movies these days. At least none that I would wanna make an effort to go and see, or that I truly look forward to.

That being said there are always a few exceptions that spark my interest during the year. Last year it was The Dark Knight, and this year it's Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen.

I will admit that my interest in the film is largely fueled by the fact that (like most kids of the 80's) I was (and I guess in a way still am) a huge Transformers fan. I watched the cartoon, and yes I even had the toys.

I absolutely loved the first movie and thought it was one of the few of that year (2007 I believe) that not only deserved the hype, but lived up to it.

Being a summer blockbuster I didn't have high expectations for it beyond the usual action, blow 'em up special effects and CGI.

What really drew me to it however was the story (any big budget blockbuster movie can do awesome effects these days), but very few have a decent plot.

Casting a relative newcomer like Shia LaBeouf as the main character certainly didn't hurt either ;).



It's hard to tell from the trailer whether the sequel will offer more of the same, but I definitely can't wait to find out!.

Lena Headey "The Broken" trailer

If you just can't get enough of Lena Headey on Terminator the Sarah Connor Chronices or just in general then check out this international trailer (I guess the U.S. one is not out as of yet) for her new psychological thriller "The Broken".

She plays a woman whose life descends into nightmare after she sees an apparent double of herself driving by in her own car.



Nice to see Lena doing a horror movie she's done a lot of other genres, but I think this is a first for her (not counting The Cave because I don't know what the hell that was) .

I don't know about the rest of you but after seeing that trailer I'm sold! (what can I say, I love psychological flicks).

Evan Rachel Wood "The Life Before Her Eyes"

I remember reading the plot line for this movie last year. The trailer certainly makes it look intriguing. Ok, it could also be the fact that it stars Evan Rachel Wood lol.

If you've read my blog before then you know I'm a huge fan of hers. I just think she's an amazing underrated actress.

Kudos to the casting director if anyone could play a younger version of Uma Thurman's character they couldn't have picked a better fit then Evan. Actually the resemblance is almost uncanny, I never noticed that before.

Looks like I have another movie to add to my must-see list this year (along with The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian and The Dark Knight) For anyone interested this one comes out April 18th.

Jodie Foster in Nim's Island

Found this trailer recently. Jodie Foster in a children's adventure film?. Ok I could definitely see that, but Jodie playing a goofy comedic character?.

Never in a million years LOL. I'm so used to her playing serious dramatic characters that this seems so foreign.

I do have to give her props though she does seem to have great comedic timing. It's actually kind of a nice departure from her last movie (The Brave One).

Young Abigail Breslin must have been thrilled to get this part, not everyone gets to be in movies with Jodie Foster. I can understand why she was chosen, although I have yet to see "Little Miss Sunshine".

And hey, Jodie is finally in a movie she can allow her kids to see lol (I'm sure that was part of the motivation for taking this role). Looks like a fun flick, I'll be keeping my eye out for it.

Jodie's got a gun

Jodie Foster has got a new movie coming out in September called "The Brave One". Have to say it looks great, very intense but then what Jodie flick isn't? lol. In any case I'm excited, especially since Jodie only does about 2 movies per year.

Great upcoming movie with Evan Rachel Wood

Here is a trailer for Evan Rachel Wood's newest movie "Across the Universe" which comes out later this year.

I'm really excited about this one, it show cases Evan's singing talent (for those who don't know she's a got a great voice). The trailer is quite interesting I wouldn't be surprised if this movie becomes next year's Oscar contender.

A little of this, a little of that

I know, I know I've been slacking off lately. Well, what can I say?. It's December so things are a little slow all around right now. Plus I've been a little busy trying to find a job. Things are moving along but there's a lot of calling and waiting involved.

Have to say travelling is not a lot of fun this time of year, especially if the only way you can get around is by bus. The weather has gotten a lot colder and it's really starting to feel like December. Lets just say I'm hoping this winter will be short. But the realist in me says, that living in Canada makes that next to impossible lol.

Anyway, that's about it in terms of my life at the moment. Let's get back to something a little more interesting... pop culture:D. I'm sure we've all heard of a little movie called "Rocky" right? (if you haven't then it's probably because you're a youngster or living under a rock lol).

For those who don't know there were 5 movies in total, which I've always thought was more then enough. But Hollywood didn't and they've made another one. Yep, that's right Rocky VI aka "Rocky Balboa" is coming to a theatre near you this Christmas. It stars an aging Sylvester Stallone (although I have to say he looks good for his age).

It looks interesting, but to be honest I don't think many people will go see it, except maybe the die hard Rocky fans of course. I think I would rather just wait for the DVD lol.

Also according to the Internet Movie Database Sly is doing another Rambo movie entitled "Rambo IV:Pearl of the Cobra" due out in 2008.

Hollywood is clearly out of ideas.

Been a little quiet lately

Not much has been going on in the gossip, celebrity department lately (at least nothing I feel is worth reporting). Which leaves me with very little to write about, since my life is just not that exciting lol. At least for now.

I did find an interesting trailer for a horror movie with Michelle Trachtenberg (Dawn on Buffy) called "Black Christmas" from what I've gathered it's a remake of a 1974 flick. What's really strange is that it comes out on Christmas Day.

Makes you wonder how many people will actually see it. Especially since the plot of the movie involves young girls getting killed left and right. Not exactly something that fills one with Christmas cheer. But I'm sure there will be some horror buffs curious to see it.

Gotta say it's nice to see Michelle she disappeared for a while after "Eurotrip" but this year she's done some tv appearances one on House and the other on Law and Order: CI this week. And it looks like now she's getting back on to the big screen.
