Song of the Moment: Pink-What's Up
This song really takes me back to my childhood. My cousin's and I always had this blasting out of our stereos at full volume. Annoying the hell out of our neighbours *lol*.
As much as I do love when Linda Perry sings it. I find that Pink's version is equally as enjoyable.
If anyone could do justice to anything Linda Perry it would be Pink.

Song of the Moment: Pink- Funhouse
I was hoping this would be her next music video. It's my fave track on the album.

Glitter in the Air......
Have you ever fed a lover with just your hands?
Closed your eyes and trusted, just trusted?
Have you ever thrown a fist full of glitter in the air?
Have you ever looked fear in the face and said “I just don’t care?”
It’s only half past the point of no return
The tip of the iceberg, the sun before the burn
The thunder before the lightning, the breath before the phrase
Have you ever felt this way?
Have you ever hated yourself for staring at the phone?
Your whole life waiting on the ring to prove you’re not alone
Have you ever been touched so gently you had to cry?
Have you ever invited a stranger to come inside?
It’s only half past the point of oblivion
The hourglass on the table, the walk before the run
The breath before the kiss, and the fear before the flames
Have you ever felt this way?
There you are, sitting in the garden
Clutching my coffee, calling me sugar
You called me sugar
Have you ever wished for an endless night?
Lassoed the moon and the stars and pulled that rope tight?
Have you ever held your breath
And asked yourself “Will it ever get better than tonight?”
Tonight

Birthday musings
They say that age is just a number, but it's a number that we after a certain point start to dread.
Why is that?.
Is it the painful reminder of time passed, opportunities lost?.
Isn't it funny how when we are young all we want to do is grow up, but once that actually happens all we want to do is go back to a time when we were younger.
It's a strange conundrum. I often find myself wishing I could go back to those carefee times of my life, but as much fun as those years were, with age comes a wisdom and maturity that I don't think I would want to give up.
So what is it about the number itself that inspires so much anxiety . For some it may be because it's closer to a certain round figure (like the big 3-0 in my case).
It could also be the fact that with a certain age come certain expectations (societal or otherwise) and it's the fear of not meeting them that leads to the age- phobia. Or perhaps it's just the simple fact of getting older I don't know....
I think this Pink song sums it up best.
I hide my pain like the rest of them
That's why I'm always laughing
I'm troubled, I'm brilliant and miserable too
That's why I am so funny
I swallow down all my fears
With a bottle made of silver
I've only been here for 27 years
But already my life is over
And I need to unwind, yes, and I
I need to unwind, yes, and I
Want all the time
To be loved, to unwind
My life is like a fairytale
That nobody believes in
I can't remember anything
Not the people, not the places I've been
Just one more day you can make it, babe
That's what I tell myself
And everything that I love in life
It is killing me, 'cause it's bad for my health
And I need to unwind, yes, and I
I need to unwind, yes, and I
Want all the time
To be loved, to unwind
"Unwind"
And, yes in case you didn't catch on to my not-so-subtle hints today is indeed my Birthday, thus the introspection.

Crystal Ball.....
So the new Pink album Funhouse came out yesterday.
And I love it!. I don't know if I can say that it's better then her previous effort I'm Not Dead but it's a very close second.
I'm currently playing it non-stop on my mp3 player.
Aside from the current single I really like "Glitter in the Air", "Sober", and the highly energetic "Bad Influance".
But I think my top favourite has to be a song called "Crystal Ball".
Drinking wine and thinking bliss, is on the other side of this
I just need a compass and a willing accomplice
All my doubts that fill my head cascading up and down again
Up and down and round again, down and up and round again.
Oh, I've had my chances and I've taken them all.
Just to end up right back here on the floor.
To end up right back here on the floor.
Pennies in a well, a million dollars in the fountain of a hotel.
Fortune teller that says maybe you will go to hell.
But I'm not scared at all....
The cracks in the crystal, the cracks in the crystal ball.
Sometimes you think everything is wrapped inside a diamond ring
Love just needs a witness and a little forgiveness
And a halo of patience and a less sporadic pace and
I'm learning to be brave in my beautiful mistakes.
Oh I've felt that fire and I've been burned
But I wouldn't trade the pain for what I've learned
I wouldn't trade the pain for what I've learned.
Pennies in a well, a million dollars in the fountain of a hotel.
Fortune teller that says maybe you will go to hell.
But I'm not scared at all...
Of the cracks in the crystal, the cracks in the crystal ball.
Irony, irony, this hate and love, hate and love
What it does to me, what it's done to me.
What is done...done
Pennies in a well, a million dollars in the fountain of a hotel.
Broken mirrors and a black cats cold stare,
Walk under ladders on my way to hell, I'll meet you there.
Crystal Ball~Pink
The verses are so beautifully honest.

Pink's still got it
Yep, nobody makes break-up songs or break-up videos more fun and catchy than Pink. With her trade mark cheeky sense of humor she sticks it to her ex, while at the same time showing the middle finger to the press by having him in the video. You go girl!!. :D.
This song is off of her new album entitled "Funhouse" coming out at the end of October, I'm putting this one on my must have list!.
ETA: Here's a high quality video from Yahoo.

Song of the moment: Pink-What's Up
I think I've mentioned once before that I'm generally not a big fan of covers, unless they're done really really well.
And although it is rare some covers are actually better then the originals. Such is the case with this Linda Perry tune, which you might say was a childhood staple of mine.
I have heard many different renditions of this song, but none have sounded as good as Pink's and it is by far my absolute favorite.

Do What U Do.......
I've been listening to this song a lot lightly it always makes me think and at the same time always manages to cheer me up. Hope it does the same for all of you;).
Some people like the summer when its hot
Some people like the winter cold
Some people speak their minds when they wanna
And some other people ain't so bold
Whatever it is that you do
You should do, you should do with your head held high
So when you're doing your thing its 'cause you wanna
And they never can ask you why
I say
Do what you do
Say what you say
Mean what you mean when you say
'Cause its your life
Gotta make your own rules
And you gotta do it, do it your own way
Some like it easy when others they like it rough
But ain't nobody gotta like it but you
Girl, boy, boy, girl, girl, girl, boy, boy
Whatever, you should do what you do
How can they tell you that you could or should?
Would or wouldn't
Well ask 'em can they walk in your shoes
'Cause its your life and you do what you wanna
And remember baby its all about you
So if it's on your mind
Then you should speak your peace
And say whatcha say
And if you want it done
Then you should get it done
And do it your way
