Shania Twain is returning to the road. This morning, the woman behind the bestselling country album of all time, 1997's Come on Over, announced a 48-city summer tour. But the Rock This Country Tour, her first in more than 10 years, will also be her last. The singer told Good Morning America's Robin Roberts that it'll be like one big afterparty. "This is my last tour, so I'm going to make the most of it," Twain said. "I want to go out with a bang."
Kicking off June 5th with a single U.S. show in Seattle, the tour will immediately head north to Twain's native Canada for a string of homecoming concerts across the country before returning to America for a date at New York City's Madison Square Garden. Stops in Boston, Miami, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Nashville and other major markets will follow, before wrapping up in Fresno, California, in August, a few days prior to Twain's 50th birthday.
In December, Twain concluded a critically acclaimed and commercially successful residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Dubbed Shania: Still the One, the elaborate showroom production, which included multiple costume changes and the singer flying onto the stage atop a motorcycle, ran for two years. A TV special, Shania: Still the One Live From Vegas, aired last week on ABC. "I feel that Las Vegas, the show, was a huge mountain to climb for me. I not only got through it, but I enjoyed it," said Twain, promising an entirely new production. "I didn't want to take part of the show on the road, I wanted to take an entirely new show that was custom-made for touring."
Best known for such hits as "Honey I'm Home," "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!" and "From This Moment On" — as well as for her midriff-baring fashion sense — Twain became the defining female country voice of the Nineties. She sold more than 75 million albums, with Come on Over making history as the bestselling album ever by a woman, in all genres. While the tour will focus on the hits, Twain revealed that she is also working on new music. "I'm working on the new record as we speak. I'm on the microphone every day recording. That will be coming up after the tour. I want to enjoy that party and then I'll get back to the record," she said. "I want it to come out when I'm 50, so I'm going to make it happen."
Following her 2004 Up Tour, Twain all but disappeared, battling vocal issues that kept her away from the stage. She documented her struggle in the 2011 Oprah Winfrey Network series Why Not? With Shania Twain, before announcing her return to live performing at a press conference in Nashville.
"I look to others for my strength. Strength is within but I draw inspiration from others' suffering. I look for the courage in others and then I find mine," Twain told Roberts. "The inspiration comes from everybody around me."
Here are the dates for the Rock This Country Tour, which features Canadian musician-actor Wes Mack opening shows from June 5th through 28th, and Gavin DeGraw filling the slot for the remainder of the tour. Following a presale, tickets for the public go on sale Friday, March 13th.

Shania Twain gets ready for Las Vegas engagement
It was an arrival fit for a queen, and Shania Twain proved that she’s the reigning princess of country pop when she arrived on horseback for her official welcome at Caesars Palace this afternoon. In fact, the Canadian star followed a posse of 40 horses down a closed section of the Strip by the fountains at Caesars.
She laughed: “I could have gone riding all around town all day.” Caesars Palace President Gary Selesner quipped: “ I thought you were headed for the Mirage.” Shania added: “I am loving Las Vegas. We are being treated like gold. I am going to miss it whenever I take a break, and we haven’t even started the show yet.
“Our adrenaline is racing at the highest level. I am high on it. A lot of work is going into the show with new, never-before-seen elements. It’s going to be a very personalized show.”
It’s taken some 2 years since the first lunch to discuss a Las Vegas run to reach Shania’s Dec. 1 start of her 3-year residency deal. AEG chief John Meglen told me: “We are 75 percent loaded in with the show, and we are now working on the video projections and the computer automation. I’m really impressed with the sets. It all feels larger than life but at the same time very intimate, and that’s a tough thing to pull off.
“I’m realizing just how good director Raj Kapoor is -- a genius. He is leading the next generation of directors. The show is at 100 minutes right now, and we’ll probably have it at 110 minutes for opening night. It races along. It all goes so fast, yet it’s longer than other shows on the Strip. That’s a good sign. It doesn’t drop for a moment.
“I’ve seen the Marc Bouwer costumes. Every woman who sees Shania wearing them onstage is going to go wild for them. The gowns are incredible. It’s her trademark look mixed with some new ones, and they all become a major part of the show.
“With Shania joining our lineup of Celine Dion, Sir Elton John and Rod Stewart, I don’t have an empty week in the schedule now for two years, maybe not even an empty day to fill.”
Gary, who celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Colosseum in March, is just as happy: “Shania is doing big business. We’re literally sold out for her first run, and she’s already selling strongly for the second that starts in March. She will also help -- just like Celine -- Las Vegas recover from the recession.
“She changes the market again with her demographic fan followers. Caesars now has two of the highest record sellers of all time with Celine and Shania. We have the two sides of the coin. Celine is a world-class crooner with a huge palate of songs, and Shania is rural, urban and earthy.”
Raj told me he’s very comfortable with the show at this stage: “We’ve got 23 of her biggest hits, some full and some in a medley. She’s got six of the most extraordinary wardrobe changes. We have 13 people in the band and three singers. Her sister is a part of it, so Shania feels comfortable onstage.
“She’s a little bit nervous, but so very confident. We hit it off in 2 hours of meeting. I have been a huge fan of hers and always wanted to work with her. You will see and hear and experience things you have never seen before on any stage anywhere.”

Shania Twain to star in own reality show!
Country icon Shania Twain is the latest celeb to get a reality show of her own!
The 44-year-old singer will star in Why Not? With Shania Twain, a series set to premiere on OWN (Oprah’s network).
“The show will follow [Shania] as she begins her climb back to the top, a personal journey filled with risk, revelations and unexpected adventures,” a statement from the network said (via People). Shania and her husband, Robert “Mutt” Lange, split up in May of 2008 after nearly fifteen years of marriage.
The start date for Why Not? has not yet been announced.

I have been anxiously awaiting any news on Shania Twain (and her upcoming album), but this was not what I was expecting.
Never thought she would go this route.
Especially since she's such a private person to all of a sudden open her life to the public on a daily basis seems very unlike her.
We'll have to wait and see how much truth there is to this.

Shania Twain engaged!
Shania Twain has found love again and is getting hitched according to Star magazine. Interestingly enough, she’s getting married to the ex-husband of her friend Marie-Anne Thiébaud, who was “the other woman” in the affair with Shania’s hubby, Robert “Mutt” Lange.
Star magazine reports that Frédéric Thiébaud and Shania Twain have been showing off their matching promise rings at Shania’s cottage in the Muskoka region of Ontario. A source dished that the couple have plans to get married next year.
Seems awfully fast to me. Guess we'll find out next year whether it's true or not.

Shania Twain & Robert John "Mutt" Lange call it quits!
After almost 10 years of marriage Country singer Shania Twain and producer husband Robert "Mutt" Lange are getting a divorce!.
Ok, as a long time fan of hers I did not see that one coming. That's like Celine Dion splitting with hubby Renee Angelil.
It's just unthinkable. Well, at least to me. Hell, you hear about celebrity power couple break-ups all the time it's nothing new.
But it's the ones that make it past the double digit mark that are always the most shocking I think. It gets especially tricky when there are kids involved.
For the sake of the child I hope it was an amicable split. There were rumors going back as far as 2000 that things were not all rosy between them, I guess they were true.
Now that their personal relationship has ended, I wonder what this means for their professional one?.
Will Shania still work on producing songs with her ex? or will she find a new creative team?. And does this mean a delay on the new album?. I guess we'll see.

I was listening to this song recently and thinking of how weirdly appropriate it seems for this time of year, with everyone running around spending crazy money, trying to find the perfect gift.
It's really very sad how materialistic you become as an adult, although I suppose the same can be said for many kids these days.

Monday blues
I feel the need to express myself through song again lol. And I think I found a perfect one.
It must be Monday! What a dumb day!
