Evan Rachel Wood and Marilyn Manson have reportedly broken off their engagement.
The 22-year-old actress and her 41-year-old on-again, off-again beau ended their engagement last week, a source told People.
Marilyn was spotted out clubbing with friends and a former Playmate of the Year in L.A. this weekend. “They just broke off their engagement, and he needed a night out with friends,” another source told the mag.
Marilyn proposed to Evan on stage in France back in January.

On Monday, the 41-year-old rocker proposed to Evan, 22, onstage while performing in Paris, according to People.
“It may surprise you just how healthy and loving our relationship is,” Evan told Elle in 2007, adding that she found Marilyn “lovely” and “just amazing”.
This would be the first marriage for Evan and the second for Marilyn, who split with burlesque beauty Dita Von Teese in 2007.
Evan Rachel Wood has rekindled her romance with shock rocker Marilyn Manson, according to UK’s Metal Hammer magazine.
Marilyn told the mag (via Us), “Me being at my best is what I need to be…I think that has really paid off because I’m back with Evan.”
Evan, 22, and Marilyn, 40, broke up around October 2008. Marilyn has since been linked to model Isani Griffith. Evan was seen hanging out with her True Blood co-star Alexander Skarsgard in September 2009.

Sources confirm to me exclusively that True Blood creator Alan Ball has tapped Evan Rachel Wood to play the pivotal role of Sophie-Anne, the vampire Queen of Louisiana!
Who dat, you ask? She's a 500-year-old vampire from France who is charming, wily, ruthless and wise. She's a consummate diplomat who has (or had) many of history's most famous people on speed dial.
Short story shorter: It's a major frakkin' part, and landing Wood (whose last significant TV gig was Once and Again) is a major frakkin' coup.
A True Blood insider tells me that Wood is booked for two episodes, both of which will air towards the end of the show's upcoming second season. But rest assured, if the show is renewed for a third season (and, please, it will be), Wood will be back. Again: Major frakkin' part.
Can't say I've ever seen this show since the only vampires I ever liked came from the world of Joss Whedon. But I may tune in for the Evan-centric eps.
Also rumor is that she's back with Marilyn Manson again. Something tells me there'll be a lot more off and on with these two in the future.

When we first met seven years ago, Evan Rachel Wood was a mere 13, on the cusp of success.
Now at a confident 21, the beautiful young actress has survived adolescence, the prying eyes of the media and early fame, as she continues to take on challenging roles, such as Mickey Rourke's estranged daughter in "The Wrestler".
She also completed a starring role in Woody Allen's latest comedy opposite Larry David and is about to play MJ in "Spider-Man" - on Broadway. Wood talked exclusively to PAUL FISCHER.
Question: Evan you only had basically two scenes in The Wrestler, but they're obviously very, very important, and powerful. Was it the opportunity primarily to work with Darren that drew you to this, or was it the nature of the character?
Wood: Both really, but mainly Darren. He was in my top five directors that I really wanted to work with, I met with him, and he said - if Mickey did it, he really wanted me to do it, because he thought our chemistry would be good together. But if Mickey didn't, he wasn't sure who would, and if it would work or not, so I wasn't getting my hopes up. Then I heard Mickey wasn't doing it, so I was crushed and then all of a sudden out of the blue, it worked out, and we both did it.
Question: What surprised you the most about working with Darren and Mickey?
Wood: Really, just how spontaneous everything was. There was no rehearsal. I had a really close relationship with Darren, in working on the character's back story and Darren kind of works by getting to know who you are, and then putting that to the character. So we talked a lot before hand. But I didn't talk to Mickey before it was shot.
Question: Is that partly because of the nature of your on-screen relationship?
Wood: Yeah. It was an agreement. We all thought, "Let's see what happens if we just don't say anything to each other, unless we're doing a scene." So I didn't really meet Mickey until after the movie was done.
Question: What kind of an actor is he to work with?
Wood: Very intense and incredibly dedicated. As big of a wild child that he is, when he's on set, he takes it incredibly serious. I've never seen an actor more into a character, or more focused than him.
Question: Your character is obviously justifiably a very angry young woman. What are the difficulties or the challenges for you to play that kind of realistic emotion?
Wood: Well, I guess just feeling safe enough and that's why Mickey and Darren were such a blessing, because you have to know that you're in good hands to go to those places. But I think it was hard, too, because I really did relate to the character a lot. And - had similar - having Daddy issues. So, having to face all these feelings and emotions that I hadn't been in touch with for a long time was probably the hardest part.
Question: What was the biggest sense of identification you had with your character now?
Wood: Probably - I had the same suspense as she had. even when her father does try to reconcile. She doesn't trust him, and doesn't want to get hurt. But I kind of got the happy ending that she didn't. You know? After filming the movie is when I hooked back up with my Dad. And we had a scene very similar to the boardwalk.
Question: Really?
Wood: But it didn't end in tears. It ended well. I think the film is kind of what led me to call him, because after the filming was done, I wanted to share this experience that I just had, this incredible thing I just went through, and nobody really got it. I figured that the only one that would, would be him.
Question: You've been at this a long time. What do you think you've learned the most during that time? And what has surprised you the most about where you are today as an actress?
Wood: I feel like I've really stayed true to myself and that I didn't lose myself in the craziness. I stuck to my guns, I did the films that I wanted to do and I'm still here. I don't feel like I have to do really big-budget films to stay noticed. So, it's kind of gone how I wanted it to.
Question: Has the transition from various stages of adolescence through to young adulthood been easy for you?
Wood: Not necessarily, no. And I think because there are so many horror stories about teenagers, and child actors, that people were really protective of me. And they were overly protective. So, I feel like it wasn't until I turned 18 that I really had the freedom to figure out - who I was, because I'd just been doing what everybody was telling me was the right thing to do. So I feel like I'm much happier.
Question: Do you play on doing anything in terms of your education? I mean, are you interested in doing some further studying?
Wood: Maybe eventually, yes. But I feel like I've gotten a pretty good education. I got to travel around the whole world for about eight months, and I learned so much, just doing what I do, and the people that I meet. But I do love to write.
Question: What kind of writing do you like to do?
Wood: I write poetry and songs. But I also write short films. I've started trying to get some practice in by trying to adapt some short stories, and things like that, into short films.
Question: So, do you think you're going to become a filmmaker?
Wood: I'd like to, eventually. more than one person - more than one director has kind of told me that I have to, or they're going to kill me. I feel like I could do it. I'm starting to really get into photography, and starting to get visual about things. So, we'll see. I don't think it'll be soon.
Question: Now, you recently worked with a somewhat different director to Darren, Woody Allen. He is not known as the most communicative person in the world.
Wood: But very sweet. It's not that he's cold. It's just that he's shy.
Question: What kind of lessons do you take away, though, from working with somebody like Woody Allen?
Wood: I learned a lot. I mean, just about myself, what I could handle and somebody like him putting their trust in me. I didn't audition. I hadn't really done a comedy like that before. So, he was - taking a chance. He's smart enough.
Question: You're not known as an actress of comedy. I mean, you've played a lot of very dark roles. Is this a typical Woody Allen comedy, in terms of the dialogue, and the way he uses dialogue?
Wood: Definitely, yeah. It's very old-school Woody Allen. And - he shot back in New York again, which he hasn't done that in years. So. It was really fun to be in New York with Woody Allen.
Question: Tell me about working with - I mean, I can't see the combination of Woody Allen and Larry David?
Wood: Really?
Question: No. Although they're both New York Jews.
Wood: Exactly.
Question: How did Woody get along with Larry David?
Wood: They got along great. I loved watching them talk to each other, because they are similar, but they are very different. And I think that's why Woody cast him, because - if you read the script, the character seems like it is Woody Allen. You don't see how anybody else could play it. I think he really brought something different, so that it's not just the Woody Allen character.
Question: How did you enjoy working with Larry?
Wood: I loved Larry. Larry's great. And we kind of looked out for each other, because he had never done a film, or had to memorize lines. And I'd never done comedy. So, you know. We kept each other's spirits up in that way.
Question: Would you do another comedy, after doing this?
Wood: Absolutely, yeah. I love comedy. And it was such a great change of scenery for me to go on set and see Larry David, and Michael McKean and Ed Begley Junior. people I grew up watching, but have never seen behind the scenes. So, it was so cool. [LAUGHTER] I was so excited.
Question: What kind of a girl do you play in that?
Wood: She's a very sweet, Southern belle and so naïve that she comes across dumb, because she just wants to see the good in everything. She just loves everything. So she shacks up with Larry David, who's the complete opposite. He's like, an Ebenezer Scrooge kind of character. Just, "Bah humbug" to everything. So, it's just opposites attracting.
Question: What kind of stuff are you looking for now that you're in your early 20s, that you weren't looking for when you were in your teens?
Wood: Just strong women. I'm going to be doing a movie pretty soon I don't think I can talk too much about yet. But she's very kind of a Sarah Connor. And those are the women I love. Kind of Ripley.
Question: Is it an action movie?
Wood: Not really action
Question: Do you want to do an action movie?
Wood: If it was the right times, yeah, I would.
Question: I mean, you do tend to resist the big Hollywood movies.
Wood: They just tend to not have as much heart. I'm not saying they're all like that, but - at least for girls my age, it's hard to find kind of weird, edgy ones.
Question: And you're pretty selective in what you do, aren't you?
Wood: Yeah. Very, very much. It's not for the money. [LAUGHTER]
Question: R Are you living on the East Coast or the West Coast?
Wood: I live on the West Coast.
Question: Somehow you strike me as a New York kind of girl, for some reason. I don't know why I think that.
Wood: I love New York. I do kind of fit in with New York a little better. I'm going to be living there this year, all this year and next year. I'm doing Broadway, so I'll be back over there.
Question: You're doing Broadway?
Wood: Spider-Man.
Question: You're playing MJ?
Wood: Yep. [LAUGHTER]
Question: Wow. It's a musical?
Wood: Yeah. Yeah. Bono and the Edge are doing the music, and Julie Taymor, who did Across the Universe, is going to do it.
Question: Well, that's pretty cool.
Wood: It's very cool. [LAUGHTER] It's very cool.
Question: Who's Spidey?
Wood: We don't know yet.
Question: Do you get to test with any of the young hot stage actors that are around,?
Wood: I don't know. I don't know. [LAUGHTER] I'm waiting to see who I'm going to be kissing upside down.
Question: Well, that's very exciting. When is it opening?
Wood: October, I think.
Question: Is it based on the first movie, or is it a completely original story?
Wood: It kind of takes from all of it, really. There's old and new things. I think people will be really pleasantly surprised.
Question: So, if it was scary working with Woody Allen, how much more scary is it going to be for you to be on Broadway?
Wood: I think it'll be scary the first night, but I'll probably just want to cry after the first time I sing alone on stage. I haven't done that since I was - I started off in musical theatre, and I haven't done that since I was little.

The hair, once the tousled blonde mane of a delinquent Valley girl, is sculpted into an elegant auburn up-do, the powder-white complexion offset by a gash of deep red lipstick. She smoulders seductively in a pair of vintage leopard-print heels.
“My dress?” asks Evan Rachel Wood of the green gown that clings to her every curve like Sellotape. “Ebay.”
As if tapped with the back of a spoon, the carefully constructed 1940s-sex-siren facade is shattered.
Such an off-beat exclamation is typical of the self-possessed 21-year-old Wood as she sits opposite me on the terrace of the Four Seasons hotel in Beverly Hills, gently sniffling, all goose bumps and bright blue eyes, in the chill November air. A girl who shot to fame at 16 with a Golden Globe-nominated breakthrough performance playing a sexually precocious, tongue-pierced, drug-taking teen in the shocker hit Thirteen, she has now landed her first “serious” role, opposite Mickey Rourke in The Wrestler, in which she plays the estranged daughter of Rourke’s washed-up pro athlete. Directed by Darren Aronofsky, the film opens in January.
“I kicked Mickey’s ass and he’ll confirm this,” she giggles, adding that she sees Rourke like a “cool uncle, but he’ll hate me for saying that”. She is endearingly coy about her success. “When people stare at me, I don’t automatically think it’s because I’m famous. I look in the mirror to see if I have something stuck in my teeth.”
The fact that Wood is said to be the reason Marilyn Manson left his wife, Dita Von Teese, could also have something to do with the stares. Then there are the rumours about an alleged split from Manson, including the inevitable one that she was having W an affair with Rourke. (Rourke’s response? “Tell the faggot who wrote this shit that I want to break his f***ing legs.”) But Wood is used to controversy. The media reaction to her involvement with Manson, for example, was instant and vitriolic. “My favourite press story was a photo of me with ‘whore’ written across it,” she says. “I wanted to frame it.”
People were outraged that Wood apparently started dressing like Von Teese just after she had stolen her man; that Manson had traded in his wife for a younger model and moulded Wood into a mini Von Teese. “I was a brunette before I met Manson,” protests Wood, who also starred in an astonishingly explicit music video with Manson. She doesn’t mention Von Teese by name, but she does say: “She’s the last person I would want to be like.”
Born to actor parents, Wood started in musical theatre at the age of four. “My mom was obsessed with me being the next Jodie Foster. She wanted me to go to the schools that Foster went to and learn French,” she says. She is now a 17-year veteran of stage and screen, and not easily intimidated by working with one of the biggest names in her industry. On being pitted against the notoriously difficult Rourke in The Wrestler — which scooped the Golden Lion at the Venice film festival — she is full of grown-up thespian speak.
“Actors are competitive. If somebody throws something at you, what are you going to do? Throw it right back, of course. You have to prove yourselves to each other.” At Rourke’s insistence, they didn’t meet until arriving on set. The first words she ever said to him were in character, with the cameras rolling.
“He’ll test you. He’s not going to give his respect to just anyone.” But there is still an element of the gentle precociousness about her that comes with being just 21: beyond the dress and the shoes and the new hair, there is still a sense of her playing grown-up in her mother’s clothes. And when asked if working with Rourke — who has had notoriously botched cosmetic surgery — has put her off ever going under the knife herself, Wood tilts her head down, looks up at me with an arched eyebrow and says, with a sincere but tight smile: “You are so mean.”
Until her involvement with Manson, Wood had never really been one of those young actresses who carnivorously court press attention to raise their profile. And it is still her ability to act, rather than her ability to embark on gossip-generating sexual liaisons, that has some of Hollywood’s most respected directors queuing up to work with her. Julie Taymor cast her in the lead of the sunny, toe-tapping Beatles-inspired musical film Across the Universe, and she received the ultimate actor’s accolade when Woody Allen made her the lead of his next comedy, Whatever Works.
Still, the rumour mill powers on. She has responded calmly to stories that she has split from Manson. “Manson and I both decided to take some time apart, so we could concentrate on work,” she stated. So who might she date next? Given that, before Manson, she had a two-year relationship with Jamie Bell, the cherubic British star of Billy Elliot, the field is wide open. You certainly can’t accuse her of having a type.
There is one thing we can be sure of: he’ll be carefully chosen. Wood’s image is clearly important to her as she takes her first steps into the world of grown-up roles. Despite the chill, she never once during our interview covers her pneumatic starlet curves with her coat.
When asked how she would describe herself, she replies “crazy”, but when pushed to give an example, the best she can offer is “swimming naked at night in the ocean”. She goes on to explain that she is petrified of the sea — maybe that does constitute a crazy act? — but considering the messed-up, sexed-up characters she has played so convincingly, not to mention her most recent choice of lover, I’m surprised she cannot come up with something more left-field.
Wood just smiles demurely, as if she’s already said too much. Her face reverts to serious-actress mode. The look says “fully grown adult in charge of her own destiny”. “I don’t let people push me in any one direction,” she says of her recent choice of film roles. When asked if anyone ever dares tell her what to do, Wood pauses for a moment to think, before responding with a laugh: “My car’s navigation system — and even that I tell to shut up.” Then she steers the conversation back to the official reason for the interview: publicity for The Wrestler.
“I’ve been really lucky,” she says. “Sometimes I think, ‘Is this my life? Did that really happen?’ Like when The Wrestler won the Golden Lion. But it’s always nice to be appreciated for something you’ve worked really hard on.” Then she bursts out laughing again. “I just said ‘hard on’.”
And, once again, the carefully constructed veneer of grown-up womanhood collapses around her like a pack of cards.
I love reading interviews with her she's such a breath of fresh air and always entertaining. Hollywood needs more smart actresses with quirky personalities like hers.
I'm curious to see what she did with The Wrestler role. But like all her movies I'm sure it'll be worth the wait.

Evan Rachel Wood dumped live-in boyfriend Marilyn Manson on Oct. 23 after he tried to kick her brother Ira out of their guest house.
“Evan owned the house and didn't want her unemployed sibling living on the street,” a source tells Star. “It was the tipping point. Evan was fed up with how controlling and emotionally abusive Marilyn was.”
Evan, 21, and Marilyn, 39, started dating in December 2006, as his marriage to Dita Von Teese was almost over.
