"Dead Like Me" movie finally ready for resurrection

Well, it's been a year almost exactly in fact to the day since I last posted news about the Dead Like Me movie. Or Dead Like Me: Life After Death as it's been so aptly titled.

This direct to dvd movie has had quite a long delay it's original release was suppose to be in July of last year.

According to tvshowsondvd (along with many other sources I've seen around the net). We finally have an honest to goodness final release date of February 17, 2009.

I'm definitely going out and grabbing myself a copy. Also for those who may not know the movie did air on t.v. January 1st of this year on the Canadian Super Channel.

If you happened to have that channel than consider yourself very lucky the rest of us will just have to continue counting the days.

"Dead Like Me" movie trailer

I haven't heard anything about the "Dead Like Me" DVD movie since last year so I decided to do some digging and low and behold I found a Youtube trailer:

Key things to note, no Mandy Patinkin as Rube (he was busy with Criminal Minds) and no Laura Harris as Daisy Adair. Too bad those two were my favourite characters (aside from George of course;).

Couple of other things in regards to the trailer, Ellen Muth's voice sounds a little different, but perhaps it's just the audio.

The other major change?, the actress who plays Reggie looks completely different. Amazing what a growth spurt will do to you.

Aside from all that, it looks like the movie stays true to the show's sarcastic humor. I'm really looking forward to it.

I just wish the trailer included a release date. If anyone out there has the inside scoop on that please let me know so I can start counting down :D.

"Dead Like Me" movie update

Last month I mentioned that there was going to be a straight to dvd movie based on this t.v. series. Well, the movie has wrapped and is expected to hit the shelves sometime next year, yay!.

I also mentioned there were going to be possible cast changes. Unfortunately they replaced 2 of my favourite characters. Mandy Patinkin's character Rube (the most integral character aside from Georgia Lass) and Laura Harris character Daisy Adair.

She has a new t.v. show and I guess Mandy couldn't get out of his "Criminal Minds" contract in time. The rest of the original cast is back though, so if you can over look those changes it should still be a fairly enjoyable movie.

I just hope the 2 replacements gel well with the rest of the cast. It will be interesting to see if this show does return to t.v. how Bryan Fuller will juggle the responsibilities of 3 shows (Heroes, Pushing Daisies) assuming "Pushing Daisies" works out.

Anyone else find it weird that both of his series have a title that refers to death?.

More good news on "Dead Like Me"

If you're a fan of "Dead Like Me" then you're gonna love this juicy bit of news. According to Ellen Muth's Myspace page (that's right even she has one, who knew?:).

If the "Dead Like Me" DVD movie is successful enough it may return to t.v. as a series again MySpace Smilies

Wait, I'm conflicted what does "you'll have to be the judge of whether or not you like the new concept" mean?.

I hope they don't make any drastic changes format or cast wise. Why is it that directors and producers never stick to the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" philosophy?.

Also there's no word on whether the show would be on Showtime again, man it better be!. No other network will give them as much creative freedom.

In any case guess if we want to see this great series back on the tube we'll all have to go out and buy multiple copies of the movie.
