DWTS: The Finals pt. 2

It was nice to see all of this season's stars back on the dance floor once more. Some more then others.

Lil' Kim and Chuck in particular. I still can't belive that girl didn't make it to the finals. I demand a re-vote damn it!.

Btw. I think America did well with choosing the new professional dancer (who I guess will be replacing Julianne).

Anna Demitrova (sp?) seems like a wonderful addition to the DWTS family and I'm looking forward to seeing some of her routines as she whips the newest group of celebs into shape next season.

But enough about that moving on the highly anticipated finale. Each remaining couple took the floor one last time with their favourite dances.

Tony & Melissa reprised their sultry Samba (my favourite dance of hers). With a total of 86/90 it was close, but in the end she fell short.

It was a surprise since a lot of people had her pegged as the victor. Despite her loss I am so grateful to her for joining the cast.

If nothing else Tony finally got to show off his talents with an equally compatent partner. So thank you Melissa :).

I'm curious has Tony ever won the Mirror Ball Trophy? (I only started watching in S5).

Mark & Shawn chose to reprise the Cha-Cha as their final dance (which got them their first 10 of the season) and performed it to perfection.

Cheryl & Gilles went with their sexy Argentine Tango once more ending up with a tie for first place with Shawn and Mark who received 88/90.

With the closest results the show has had in years. The viewers votes were all that was separating the champion from the runner-up.

In the end it was another Olympic athlete who took home the trophy as I predicted.

Though when I made that prediction last night I honestly thought Gilles' hotness would help garner him the necessary viewer votes to make him the winner, but I guess that can only take you so far.

Clearly the American audience was just as impressed with Shawn's skills in the free-style as I was.

I loved Shawn's expression of total surprise, and squeel of delight as she heard her name called at the end. It was a well deserved win and a thoroughfully enjoyable ride. Congrats to Shawn and Mark =).

I am already counting the days till season 9!.

If the new cast of celebs is half as charismatic and talented as this one has been, we'll be in for another great season. Looking forward to it.

DWTS: The Finals pt. 1

We are finally down to my favourite portion of the competion, and I couldn't have asked for a better beginning then a face-off in the Paso Doble.

As in years past each couple brought their own unique flavour to the dance. Shawn and Mark brought precision.

Melissa and Tony brought lots of intensity, and Gilles and Cheryl supplied the sexy factor.

Like I said nothing could be better.

I have to give all of them extra points for pulling off great routines to something as contemporary as Pink's "So What". That could not have been easy. So bravo.

The first round went to Gilles and Cheryl (unsurprisingly) who received a perfect score of 30/30 for their efforts.

Melissa and Tony came close behind with 29/30. Mark and Shawn came in third with 28/30.

They made up for the lackluster results with their Free-Style. Hitting the floor first, looking like as Tom Bergeron described a couple of Vegas bank robbers *lol*.

Changing into the regular glittery wardrobe half-way through the routine. Oh, but what a dance it was!.

Perfect execution of moves in unison. It felt very reminiscent of Helio Castroneves final.

It had everything one could ask for in a Free-Style, energy, fun, and plenty of tricks, flips and spins.

This dance was the perfect opportunity for Shawn to be herself and let her personality shine and she delivered!.

It was also nice seeing her dancing something more suited to her age.

She took risks performing some crazy awesome moves, and got rewarded for it receiving a perfect score from the judges. Kudos to Mark for his choreography. Superb.

Melissa and Tony chose an Urban style. And I have to say although enjoyble, the overall routine was kind of boring. The choreography was really lacking.

I expected Tony to really go for it, but compared to Shawn and Mark it just looked and felt kind of blah. The judges thought so too and only give them 27/30.

Gilles and Cheryl concluded the evening to a "Flashdance" inspired number (and song) that left a lot to be desired.

I was extremely disappointed I expected Gilles to jump ahead of the pack with some mind blowing choreography.

Instead what we got was something that would be given to any of the celebrities in the first week of the show. WTF?!.

Really Cheryl?. Really?. She give Gilles more complicated things in rehersal then what we got to see tonight.

Perhaps that shoulder was bothering him a lot more then everyone let on (which in turn forced Cheryl to change the routine). If not then it's a real shame. Because Gilles is capable of so much more then he was given.

The judges agreed and give him 28/30. Which earned him a total of 58/60 putting him in a tie for 1st place with Mark and Shawn.

Maybe Gilles should have taken his shirt off like Jason Taylor did with Edyta Sliwinska in S6.

I'm sure that would have garnered him a few more points at least ;).

Tomorrow we'll finally find out who gets the coveted mirror ball trophy.

Based on tonight's performance I think it should belong to Shawn and Mark.

They had by far the best routine in terms of content, and great chemistry to boot!. So I'm going with them for the win.

But you never know the audience may decide to stick with the judges favourite and make Gilles the champion.

We'll see. Till tomorrow night.

DWTS: Week 10 Semi Finals

The 4 couples left standing tonight, once again danced to Ballroom and Latin styles.

Instead of going in order of the dance as I have done all through this season. I'm going to re-cap in order of couples instead.

Melissa & Tony were the first tonight with their Quick Step.

And it was as pretty as Melissa's dress. But in the end I was forced to agree with Carrie-Ann again.

It seemed to lack a lot of the excitement and energy that makes it so much fun to watch.

The chosen song could have been a contributing factor as well.

Despite the luckluster comments from the judges they still received a great score of 28/30 (with the help of a 10 from Len) . Finally!.

And though Melissa's second Cha-Cha dance was much better, it still wasn't as great as what I'm used to seeing from her.

And the scores reflected that she only got a 27/30. Giving her an overall total of 55/60

I think Bruno was right when he said that she sort went in and out of the dance at times not fully committing to it. But with all that said I still think she deserves a spot in the final.

Gilles & Cheryl The French man finally showed off his romanic side with a beautiful Waltz.

And although I still prefer when he shakes his booty to the latin style, after this perfect performance there's no doubt in my mind that he's headed to next week's finals.

My wish came true when Gilles did a sexy Salsa for his second dance. Proving once again that he's the king of latin.

In fact whenever that man moves I forget he's French! *lol*. My t.v. signal went out just as they were about to announce Gilles scores. But I'm going to assume they were as good as the ones for his first dance.

Mark & Shawn fired up the floor with a superb Argentine Tango. I honestly don't know why Shawn worries so much. She's damn good!.

Bruno was also totally right the dance was very Chicago-like. With a perfect score she has definitely become the front runner for the trophy along with Gilles.

Her Jive wasn't as impressive according to the judges. Personally I really enjoyed it. I thought it was a lot of fun.

The scores reflected the judges opinions giving her 26/30. Making it an overall total of 56/60. Putting them in second place on the scoreboard.

Chelsie & Ty continued to try his best despite being out classed by the other 3 competitors. I don't think the Viennese Waltz tonight did him any favors though.

Not his best at all. And to add insult to injury Bruno and Len got into a tizzy over his performance. Poor guy.

The Samba didn't improve his chances either, but I still enjoyed it. I guess that southern charm really works.

With a total score of 48/60. I would say that he should pack his bags, but after last week's shocking elimination of Kim and Derek I don't know what to expect.

America clearly likes an underdog, and Ty is as underdog as you can get. But since we're now down to the best I hope the viewers do the right thing and send him home.

DWTS: Week 9 Ballroom & Latin Round

Well, we are getting awfully close to the end now with only five couples remaining.

Mark & Shawn started the night off with a wonderfully energetic, fun Quickstep. I thought her personality really shined in this dance. One of her best ballroom dances since the early weeks of the competition.

The judges were being real sticklers with their technicalities again (with the breaking the hold rule). Whatever, it was a great solo and a fantastic dance nonetheless. And 27/30 ain't so bad.

Ty & Chelsie were next with an intense Argentine Tango. I actually thought the attitude was more suited for a Paso Doble, but I have to command him once again for all his hard work.

He is by far the most improved dancer the competiton has had in a while. The judges give him 25/30 (his best score in a while as well).

Derek & 'Lil Kim followed with an elegant Waltz. We all know how incredible Kim is when it comes to fast dances (as she proved in the Latin round).

But it's nice to see that she can pull off the more delicate dances just as convincingly. It may not have been as good as her Latin but still a great effort. Earning her 25/30.

Cheryl & Gilles lit up the floor with a spicy Foxtrot. Nice to see Gilles back in his element, and a great score of 29/30. I think this dance will push him through to the semis next week.

Tony & Melissa Yes!, my favourite competitor was back this week(thanks to viewer votes) with a beautifully romantic Viennese Waltz.

Melissa moved so freely it looked like she was almost floating on the floor. The judges didn't seem too enthused, but despite their comments give her a 27/30. Ending the Ballroom portion of the competition.

Mark & Shawn were first again, this time with an impressively agressive Paso Doble. Even after all these weeks I'm still amazed with Shawn's versitility when it comes to dance.

She may freak out during practice sessions but she always brings her all to the dance floor with (as I've said in the past) surprising effortlessness.

I thought her Paso was very well done especially since the music they received seemed so unlike what you would hear for a Paso.

The judges agreed and give her a 29/30. Len was being his usual self and started knit picking again.

Chelsie & Ty even though I cannot help but love this guy with all his charm and humor I want him to go home this week. We're getting to the finish line and Melissa, 'Lil Kim, Shawn, and Gill remain the clear standouts.

Therefore they should be the ones in the top 4. Sorry Ty. I do admire him for trying his damnest though.

Even improving on his hip action tonight, perhaps showing off for his wife helped a bit. The judges give him 21/30 putting him at the bottom of the score board.

Derek & 'Lil Kim showed off their chemistry in a hot and sultry Salsa. The scores were surprisingly disappointing however.

I thought they deserved much higher then 27/30. There should have been at least one 10. The combined score for both rounds give them a total of 52/60.

Cheryl & Gilles danced a sexy Rumba. Boy, can that man move his hips!. Despite the fact I thoroughfully enjoyed the performance for once I have to agree with the judges.

At times the dance felt a little over the top, like he was trying too hard (to be sexy).

And as Carrie-Ann pointed out that's completely unnecessary. The man is a walking sex symbol, and I really hope he sticks around till next week.

Tony & Melissa what better way to bounce back from an injury then with a perfect score. Dancing the Samba put Melissa back at the top of the judges leader board with a total of 57/60. Way to go!.

Right now I'm having a very hard time deciding who I want in the top 2. I definitely think Melissa deserves a spot.

As for the second I'm split between Shawn, Gilles and 'Lil Kim. Hopefully after next week, the top contenders will become more clear.

DWTS: Week 8 Lindy-Hop, Cha-Cha, Samba

We're down to the wire, with only 6 couples left in the competition.

Cheryl & Gilles started things off with the Lindy Hop. I knew that Gilles is the master of sexy latin dances (even though he's French).

But until tonight I didn't know he had a fun side. He's always all business when it comes to his routine, so it was nice to see him acting a little goofy for once.

Despite his continued shoulder problem (with the help of some cortisone injections) he was able to soldier on, and earn a score of 27/30.

Also points to the hair department for the Danny Zuko inspired hairdo.

Kim & Derek followed with the best Paso Doble of the season. It was full of passion and aggration. Kim has wonderful control of her shoulders and arms, which made the dance all the more powerful.

After hearing the judges comments I fully expected them to get a perfect score, but they came in short with 28/30.

Julianne & Chuck were next with a sultry Cha-Cha. Thanks for all the lovely hip action Chuck! ;).

And although this performance wasn't as impressive as last week, I thought they deserved a much higher score then a 26/30. Bruno was being a bit of a buzzkill tonight and only give them an 8 when it should have been a 9.

Mark & Shawn danced the Samba. Len and Bruno were not impressed, but Carrie-Ann loved it. They received 27/30.

I thought Shawn did a great job with it, but the judges are being more tough on everyone now that we're in the home stretch.

Tony & Melissa Poor Melissa suffered a hairline rib fracture and could not perform live tonight. The judges were forced to score the taped rehersal. And give her the lowest score of the evening 21/30.

I really hope people vote for her so she can come back next week (please!). She deserves a spot in the finals. And I would really like to see Tony stick around to the finals for once.

Chelsie & Ty The cowboy can Salsa!. Even though 24/30 may not be enough, I have to give him a lot of credit again for always giving 100%.

Even when completly out of his comfort zone. I don't know too many cowboys who would even attempt a Salsa on national t.v. So good on you Ty!.

You never know we might be in for a surprise tomorrow night and Chuck could go instead. Stranger things have happened on this show.

Next came the team portion of the competition. Team Mambo vs. team Tango.

Team Mambo consisted of Chuck & Julianne, Melissa (who was replaced by Lacey and ignored in the final score due to her being a professional ) & Tony, and Mark & Shawn.

All of them danced to the tune of Beyonce's "Single Ladies". Seeing all the guys in tights made my night *LOL*.

Carrie-Ann may not have liked it, but the tights added a fun element to the whole thing. I also don't think the music overshadowed the performances far from it in fact.

Great routine!. The team score coupled with the individul score give them a total of 46/60. Putting them in second place.

Gilles & Cheryl, Derek & Kim, and Ty & Chelsie formed team Tango.

They all danced to Britney Spear's "Womanizer". Their routine may have been more technically sound (according to the judges) but team Mambo was much more entertaining overall.

I did like the beginning bit with a shortless Ty and Gilles (who knew Ty was so buff!). Team Tango were the winners with a total of 56/60.

But I honestly think if Melissa was there Team Mambo would have kicked their butt.

DWTS: Week 7 Waltz, Samba, Rumba, Cha Cha and Tango

We are finally at the halfway point in the competition. This weeks dances were a real mixed bag, and a real test forcing some of the stars out of their comfort zones.

Being more of a fan of the fast paced dances, there were a few too many ballroom ones for my taste, but it was still an enjoyable night.

Tony & Melissa started things off with an Argentine Tango, that had all the judges jumping for joy, and making them the new score board leaders with 29/30. Would have been a perfect score had Len not noticed some tiny inconsistency with the steps. Stickler.

Speaking of steps I must compliment Melissa on her amazing job pulling off all those intricate moves with no mistakes. Bravo. Tony finally has a partner with whom he can really show off his choreography talents for once. He certainly took full advantage of it tonight by upping the diffuculty of her routine, and unlike many of Tony's previous celebrities Melissa didn't disappoint in the delivery.

Edyta & Lawrence were next with the Waltz. And although I thought it didn't compare to last weeks performance it was still surprisingly well done. I expected him to look clumsy and slow, but he manged to look quite the oppisate. Earning 21/30 (one point lower then last week)

This week was also a first in terms of the costume design. Each star designed an outfit for their partners. Some faired better then others. I had to chuckle at Lawrence's choice of dress for Edyta. It looked good, but the fur coat was a little much. It was clearly a big change for Edyta who usually wears next to nothing. Perhaps that's why she got tangled up in the material during one of the twirls.

Derek & Lil Kim who were last weeks score board leaders fell to fourth place with 26/30 for their Rumba. Which was a bit understated according to the judges, and I have to agree. It lacked a lot of the free movement, and looked like Lil Kim was holding back.

She's usually at her best when she lets things loose. Some of her apprehension might have been partly due to Derek's indecisiveness with his choreography (which is rare), and partly his desire to please all the judges a little too much.

Julianne & Chuck Well, well, ever since last week he seems to have found his groove, and is finally showing he has some dancing chops. About time!. Guess being at the bottom of the score board has been a real motivator. With 27/30 for the Samba he's definitely moving up.

Ty and Chelsie Ballroom seems to agree with him. After a mediocre job last week, he bounced back with a great Waltz. And a score of 24/30. Although I'm not sure whether it'll be enough to keep him around. He could be the one to head home.

Mark & Shawn Despite having a crazy schedule she managed to pull off an excellent (MJ inspired) Cha-Cha. I'm starting to think this girl could do no wrong when it comes to dance. With the second highest score of the night (28/30). I'm convinced she deserves to be one of the final 3 if not the final 2.

Cheryl & Gilles was one of the people out of his comfort zone with the Viennese Waltz, but received decent scores nonetheless 27/30.

The drawback with being a high scorer on a constant basis (as Gilles was for 5 straight weeks) is that the judges start to expect perfection. And get really nit picky towards the end (as they did with Christie Yamaguchi). Which is funny considering none of these guys are professionals.

The night concluded with the ever popular group number. Inspired by the 60's, which I have to say was 100 times better then last year's rap number.

DWTS: Week 6 Jive and Rumba

Chelsie & Ty kicked things off tonight with a cowboy Jive. The judges were not impressed and only give him 18/30 for his efforts.

I really enjoyed it personally. Although I think he could be the one to go home this week I have to give him huge props for continually giving his all despite mediocre results.

Mark & Shawn were next with a sensually romantic Rumba. I thought Shawn did an outsanding job once again.

She's always so uncomfortable in rehersals, but as soon as they get on the stage she makes it look good no matter what the style. All credit to Mark for his great teaching method. I thought the score of 26/30 was much lower then she deserved.

Edyta & Lawrence Well what do you know?, the man can dance!. Not only that he actually knows how to loosen up. I was beginning to think he was incapable of it.

In fact when I heard he was doing the Jive I thought it was going to be awkward and disastrous (especially for a man of his size). But he somehow managed to make it look energetic and fun. I wholeheartedly agree with Len his best dance and best score (22/30) to date.

Tony & Melissa After last weeks slight stumble she made a great comeback with the Rumba, receiving the second highest score of the night 27/30. She's a definite contender and I'll be really mad if she doesn't make it to the final week.

Derek & Kim The Hough choreography strikes again. This was by far the best Jive of the evening. Full of awesome acrobatics and tricks.

That Partick Swayze-like move off the judges table was inspired! :). With 28/30 they became the new score board leaders this week. Beating out what I thought to be the flawless frenchman, Gilles. Bruno and Carrie Ann give them 10, but Len the party pooper couldn't even summen a 9.

Lacey & Steve-O Len and Bruno thought their Rumba was really bad, but I thought the opposite. I'm in agreement with Carrie Ann there was something about it that made it quite enjoyable.

He really sold it. Now I don't think he has the chops to win or anything, but he continues to show great progress. With 16/30 he's gonna need a lot of votes again, or he will be eliminated for sure.

Cheryl & Gilles electrifying Jive scored surprisingly low with the judges. They only received a 26/30.

I think Cheryl forgot that he's not actually a professional, and got a little too ambitious with her routine. Making them lose points as a result. Also kudos to Gilles for really working the sex appeal with his leather vest.

Julianne & Chuck Phew, that was one HOT Rumba!. Finally I actually believe these two are a couple. But their smoldering chemistry didn't garnder them too high a score only 23/30.

Note to Len tonight, either loosen up, or go back on your meds. I like you much better when you're not being an old fuddy daddy!.

DWTS: Week 5 Viennese Waltz and Paso Doble

Since the above two aforementioned dances have always been my favourite I was really looking forward to tonight.

Chuck & Julianne kicked things off with their Viennese Waltz. Which was fairly well done. Chuck is definitely improving in his leadership role when he dances so that's nice to see.

With that said I really wish he received the Paso Doble instead. It would have given him a chance to show some confidence and some stronger emotions.

He's still got a long way to go in that respect. But not bad overall. The score wasn't too bad either 23/30.

Lawrence & Edyta were next with the Paso Doble. Which I thought was good, but not great. It lacked all the passion associated with the dance. I do think he looked much more natural out on the dance floor then he has since the beginning.

Definitely one of the better if not the best dances he's done. But I'm not sure whether it'll be enough to keep him in the competition. With a luckluster score of 20/30 he will certainly need the votes.

Mark & Shawn followed up with a very pretty Viennese Waltz. I actually had a feeling she would do well with this particular style, and I was right. She has a knack when it comes to poise and elegance (the top 2 elements needed for this dance).

The scores didn't completely reflect my feelings however, the judges only give them a 26/30. Which is nothing to cry about, but I thought they deserved something a little higher (at least that's one point higher then last week).

Tony & Melissa danced their Paso Doble. Which the judges thought contained a lot of mistakes. Since I'm neither a professional dancer nor a judge I'll just have to take their word on her supposed errors.

I didn't see anything wrong with it. In fact I thought she did quite well actually. She showed plenty of emotion and even when she messed up she kept it together. As Tony said it's much harder to continue on once you know you've made a mistake.

And we've had plenty of past examples with competitors who have made mistakes where the dances completely fell apart. So I give her huge credit for her recovery. 25/30 is nothing to sneeze at either.

David & Kym did the Viennese Waltz. He did an alright job, but it was nothing spectacular. The story they worked out for the dance was good but it didn't move me the same way that Shawn & Mark or even Gille & Cheryl did. With 22/30 he could also be in danger of heading home.

Gilles and Cheryl for the second week in a row the french actor was in a league of his own this time with the Paso Doble. I've said in the past that nothing could rival the intensity, passion and aggression of Mel and Max's 5th season Paso, but I think after tonight we may have found an equal. The man has superb lines when he moves.

With a near perfect score of 29/30 Gilles continues to be one of the top contenders who could end up taking it all in the end. Show of hands for those who wouldn't have minded if Gilles did the entire routine without his vest :D.

Steve-O & Lacey I was so glad to see him do better tonight I knew he could do it. I hope the audiance saves him again I would like to see him around for a little while longer. He gives this season some much needed entertainment.

Like Carrie Anne I'm not really a fan of shtick (the whole mime routine) when it comes to dance (especially the Viennese Waltz) but it worked really well. Earning them a score of 18/30.

Ty & Chelsie I was so disppoined with his score (21/30) tonight because I actually thought his performance wasn't as bad as the judges made it out to be.

Yes, he was stiff but that's kind of what the Paso Doble is all about anyway. I really hope the audiance doesn't decide to send him home based on this dance alone. He deserves to prove himself with a different dance.

Derek & 'Lil Kim danced the best Viennese Waltz of the night. And I think a lot of it can be attributed to their wonderful chemistry (as the judges themselves pointed out).

Not to mention Derek's flawless choreography once again. Frankly I was surprised they only got a 26/30.

I thought their total score would be much higher. But I'm not too worried I don't think those two are in any danger tomorrow night.

DWTS: Week 4 Argentine Tango & Lindy Hop

Well, as promised I'm back with a real re-cap of this weeks Dancing With the Stars.

Tonight the dance styles were as unfamiliar to the contestants as they were to the proffessional dancers. But of course because they're proffessionals you would never know it.

Kym & David Allen Grier started things off with their interpretation of the Lindy Hop. I thought it was really fun, but could have been a bit more energetic.

And though David did loose his rhythm half-way through (as Len pointed out). Overall it was a decent dance that earned him 22/30.

Derek & 'Lil Kim danced the Argentine Tango, and I gotta say I think I like it better then the regular one. Might have something to do with the few additional seductive leg moves. Derek remains the king of outstanding choreography.

His ability to learn new dances in a short span of time still amazes me. With a score of 27/30 'Lil Kim continues to be a real contender in the competition.

Julianne and Chuck though I thought he did a nice solid job on his Lindy Hop it was another case where it could have been a lot better. It was really fun, and he showed more of his personality once again.

But to me he looked like he was holding back, I expected him to cut loose a lot more. It would have been the perfect time for him to get ahead of the pack, but the hesitation with his moves cost him. Wasted opportunity there. Still 22/30 isn't too bad.

Edyta & Lawrence hit the floor next with their Argentine Tango. Parts of it were very enjoyable but as Carrie Anne commented lacked chemistry.

And at times it looked very one sided with Lawrence walking (instead of gliding) around the floor and Edyta doing all the work. The final score of 19/30 is a fair reflection of his performance.

Chelsie & Ty Lindy Hopped their way to a 25/30. And to think this guy could barely even move in week one!. He continues to forge ahead as the most improved of all the competitors.

One of the things I love about this show is that you get to see people gain confidence and really persovere as the weeks go on. I think this guy has no where to go but up.

Tom Bergeron said it best tonight had Ty's wife Jewel not pulled out he would have totally kicked her butt!.

Karina & Steve Wozniak my least favourite couple of the bunch (and I use the term loosely) danced the Tango . Ok, fine I give him slight (and I mean miniscule) credit for this one compared to the disaster that was last week.

Geeks may inherit the earth (as he so aptly put it), but they should definitely stay away from the dance floor!.

With a score of 12/30 the American audiance needs to do themselves a favor by getting a clue, and stop saving this guy from elimination.


Tony & Melissa I mentioned in a previous post this month that along with Mark and Shawn these two were my top fave contenders, and tonight they proved why.

Their Lindy Hop was chuck full of energy, fun and enthusiasm (something I thought had been lacking up to this point).

With a near perfect score of 29/30 (2nd only to Gill and Cheryl) these two are moving up!. I just wanna add how happy I am that Tony finally got a competent partner with whom he's got wonderful chemistry. About time!.


Demitri & Holly can't say I like these two, but I felt really sorry for her. No one ever wants to lose due to an injury.

Lacey & Steve-O I still feel real sympathy for this guy, and I want him to do well. But unfortunately his lack of practice due to his injuries really showed with his Lindy Hop attempt. The whole thing looked quite awkward and painful.

With a score of 15/30 he could be the one to go home. But at least he can take solace in the fact that he was leaps and bounds better then Steve Wozniak. Personally I'm hoping Steve-O gets another shot.

Cheryl & Gill were next with their Argentine Tango. And what a Tango it was!. Deeply sensual and full of emotion. Best dance of the night!. Earning them the first perfect score of the season. Very impressive.

Mark & Shawn as soon as I heard that they were going to do the Lindy Hop I knew it would be perfect for them. Especially with both Shawn and Mark being so athletic. And I wasn't disappointed, unfortunately the judges didn't seem to agree.

I guess there was a little too much pizzaz in the form of flips and tricks. Which I thought worked quite well, and give it a little something extra. So I was disappointed with their final score of 25/30. But I'm confident America will wanna see more of Shawn and vote her through to next week.

With the double elimination tomorrow night this has got to be the week for Steve Wozniak to go, or I swear I will seriously throw something at my t.v.!.

Two others that could be in danger of heading home would be Lawrence and most obviously Holly.

DWTS: Week 3 Foxtrot and Samba

After skipping the re-cap of last year's competition. I decided to share my thoughts on this one.

I'll stick with overall observations and impressons only, and will try for a more detailed re-cap (with scores and judges comments) next week since those require note taking.

A couple of weeks ago when the competition first started I honestly didn't think I would have any opinions on the season, or its contasts because a lot of the celebs I was interested in dropped out (Charlie Sheen, Jewel, Nancy O'Dell, Billy Bush) due to injuries, and what I would guess to be personal reasons.

Thus forcing ABC to get some last minute replacements. But after watching tonight I've discovered some favourtes worth rooting for.

My absolute fave dancing pair at the moment is Olympic gymnist Shawn Johnston and Mark Ballas.

Those two couldn't be more of a perfect match. Both are driven perfectionists (but without the overbearing factor).

I was very surprised by how well she's been doing in the competition. She seems to posses an innate ability to perform all types of dances with extreme ease. So far she's definitely the one to watch out for.

Another big surprise is the batchelor cast-off (and last minute replacement) Melissa Rycroft. I'm sure her background in ballet helps quite a bit, but still very impressive.

What better way to bounce back from being dumped on national t.v. then by showing your hidden dancing talent. I say good for her!.

I also really like french actor Gilles Marini (who I'm not familiar with) & Cheryl Burke. Boy, tonight he certainly showed that he can shake his bon-bon better then Ricki Martin!.

And I'm sure Cheryl is very happy to finally get a decent partner, since she's been stuck with a lot of duds in the past.

Derek Hough also lucked out by getting Lil' Kim as his partner. They're both hard workers so that really works, and could get them very far in the competition.

And I do so enjoy watching that man shake his booty on the dance floor ;D.

The one contest I currently feel the most sympathy for is poor Jackass creator Steve-O. That man has had so many injuries already and we are bearly to the half-way point.

It's almost funny really considering the kinds of stunts he pulls on his show.

I give him huge credit for hanging in there and persovering despite all that. I'm rooting for him as the underdog.

I've also got a soft spot for rodeo athlete (and husband of Jewel) Ty Murray & Chelsie Hightower (one of the two new proffesionals added this seasons).

Maybe it's that cowby charm. But you can really tell he's trying, and the effort payed off tonight. He's without a doubt the most improved non-proffesional thus far.

Then there's Football player Lawrence Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska. Is it me, or does she always get the football players?. Huh.

I guess the producers figured since she's done such a good job with them in the past they might as well continue to give them all to her.

David Alen Grier I've never been a big fan of, but he did a good job with his dance this week. So he could be around for a while.

Julianne Hough is of course dancing with her real life boyfriend Chuck Wicks. They're an interesting pair.

I was glad to see him finally show some moves instead of allowing Julianne to do all the work. He's certainly easy on the eyes too.

Denise Richards & Maksim Chmerkovskiy these two are the exact oppisate of Shawn and Mark. If there was ever a bad match-up in dancing these two would be it.

Max is too much of a perfectionist and Denise is too much of a thinker. If she doesn't learn to relax and stop overanalyzing and obssesing over her steps I'm afraid she won't get very far.

As for who should get the boot this week for once I am in complete agreement with Carrie Ann. The Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has got to go.

To quote her "the novelty has worn off". I still can't believe Belinda Carlisle got the boot before him!.

Dancing With the Stars fun season 8 line-up

Well, ABC's announcement of this year's celeb dancers has once again managed to garner my attention towards this guilty pleasure.

The ones I find most noteworthy, singers Jewel, Lil Kim, 80's icon Belinda Carlisle (definitely keeping my eye on her).

I think this season of DWTS has more singers then all years previous, or maybe even combined. Interesting.

Also Nancy O'Dell with Billy Bush. Shawn Johnson, the 2008 Olympic women's balance beam gold medalist.

And if that wasn't reason enough to tune in there's the real-life couples. Julianne Hough with her boyfriend yet another singer Chuck Wicks.

Jewel and hubby Ty Murray, a rodeo champion. Denise Richards and ex hubby Charlie Sheen (I expect sparks to fly).

All competing against each other. Boy, do I see lots of potential for possible cat-fights. Last but not least Steve Wozniak, yep the Apple co-founder.

Yeah, I think it's safe to say that after reading the (less then steller) list of guy competitors this season I'm betting on the girls lol.
