Song of the Moment: Kelly Clarkson-My Life Would Suck Without You
The perfect song for Valentine's Day, and the video is very couple-y too. Couldn't help but chuckle at the end :D.
On second thought perhaps this one fits the occasion better (for all the single peeps like moi *lol*).

A bit more on Kelly Clarkson's new single

The lyrics to Kelly Clarkson’s much-anticipated upcoming single, “My Life Would Suck Without You”, was just released on PopEater.
The song will be released to radio on January 19 with the album, reportedly called Masquerade, set for a March 17 release. It was written by pop wizards Max Martin, Dr. Luke and Claude Kelly.
Kelly Clarkson - “My Life Would Suck Without You” Lyrics
Guess this means you’re sorry
You’re standing at my door
Guess this means you take back
What you said before
Like how much you wanted
Anyone but me
Said you’d never come back
But here you are again
Cuz we belong together now
Forever united here somehow
You got a piece of me
And honestly
My life would suck without you
Maybe I was stupid for telling you goodbye
Maybe I was wrong for tryin’ to pick a fight
I know that I’ve got issues
But you’re pretty messed up too
Anyway, I found out I’m nothing without you
Cuz we belong together now
Forever united here somehow
You got a piece of me
And honestly
My life would suck without you
Being with you is so dysfunctional
I really shouldn’t miss you, but I can’t let go
Oh yeah
Cuz we belong together now
Forever united here somehow
You got a piece of me
And honestly
My life would suck without you
Lyrics usually only tell half the story, but I would say so far so good. Though I'm really curious about what the song actually sounds like.
As for the album title not the most original, but the cover makes up for it (assuming it'll be the same).

Kelly Clarkson's new single out soon

Kelly Clarkson has finished recording her fourth album and her new single is likely called “My Life Would Suck Without You.”
Producer Dr. Luke (real name: Lukasz Gottwald) tells EW she will be back with with a new song as early as next month. Woohoo!
Dr. Luke says he started developing the new song with “Since U Been Gone” collaborator Max Martin years ago. “After ‘Since U Been Gone,’ we wrote all these songs for Kelly,” says Dr. Luke, who has worked with Avril Lavigne, Britney Spears, Katy Perry, and Weezer. “This one, which I think is the first single, we had the chorus a while ago and added the verse more recently. They were going to have it out on Nov. 20, but it just got too late. So now they’re thinking Dec. 8 for a worldwide release, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that ends up being early January.”
Dr. Luke adds, “It’s sick. [Kelly] sings a song in two hours and kills it. You’re just, like, ‘holy s—.’ She has powerful lungs. She’s like the Lance Armstrong of vocal chords.”
Interesting song title, I can't wait to hear some new stuff from her!! :-).Saturday, June 16, 2007
Kelly Clarkson cancels tour

Wow, things have gone from bad to worse for Kelly, she's had to cancel her summer tour due to poor ticket sales. Which I guess doesn't bode well for the release of her new album.
Oh, well like Kelly herself has said in the past every album doesn't have to be a hit. And hey if this allows her to grow as an artist I'm all for it, and I say good going Kelly for sticking to your guns! :).

Kelly Clarkson still 'Miss Independent'

Here's another lengthy Kelly interview this time with Elle Magazine. In the interview Kelly once again talks about her struggles with the label over the new album.
As well as the struggles for creative freedom, her thoughts on marriage and boyfriends.
These are some of my favourite bits:
I really have to give her credit for continuing to stand by her convictions. She sort of reminds of Pink in that way.My December's disparity of themes and lack of an obvious hit were not lost on producer Clive Davis, who is said to have offered Clarkson $10 million to ditch five of her songs for more radio-friendly picks of his choosing. Clarkson declined."My resistance upsets a lot of people, because we could make a lot of money," Clarkson says. "And I'm not hatin' on money. But you know in Funny Girl, when they make Barbra Streisand sing the 'beautiful girl' song, and she is singing these lyrics, and she knows she's not that person?" Clarkson sighs. "I'm just not comfortable doing things that don't feel like me."
"My label wanted me to sing 'Never Again,'" she says. "And I was like, To promote yourself on a charity event is beyond crass. People are starving and dying and I'm up there singing some bitter pop song? And believe me, everyone wanted me to sing it. Because they are jaded and they have no soul. Imagine sitting in a room full of people totally against you. Can't they hear themselves speaking? Capitalize on AIDS? Are you kidding? Insulting an entire nation of people? I just refused."
I just love her uncompromising attitude, way to stand up to the brass Kelly!.
"She was incredible. When you let her come back on the show it makes everybody else look like an amateur," says Cowell, who believes Clarkson is the best winner yet "without question."
And to think Simon originally didn't like Kelly. But since he's eaten those words ten times over in the past 5 years I'll cut him some slack.
And if that isn't enough here are 5 more reasons to love Kelly (aside from her singing that is;)
A short list of things Clarkson doesn't want:
A clothing line.
A fragrance with her name on the bottle.
A television show.
A movie role.
A toy dog in a leather jacket.
Something tells me Kelly will be sticking around for a long time to come.
And going with the independent theme here's a People article that talks about Kelly parting ways with her manager.

More songs that won't go away
It's another one of those quintessential break-up songs, well actually I think it works just as well if you're feeling really angry at someone lol. I can definitely see why she chose it as her first single there's a lot of emotion behind it.
I hope the ring you gave to her turns her finger green
I hope when your in bed with her, you think of me
I would never wish bad things, but i don't wish you well
Could you tell, by the flames that burned away
I never read your letter
'Cos i knew what you'd say
Give me that sunday school answer
Try and make it all ok
[Chorus]
Does it hurt to know I'll never be there for you
Bet it sucks, seeing my face everywhere
It was you, who chose to end it like you did
I was the last to know you knew
Exactly what you would do
Don't say, you simply lost your way
She may believe you but i never will
Never again
If she really knows the truth, she deserves you
A trophy wife, oh how cute
Ignorance is bliss
When your day comes and he'll be through with you
And he'll be through with you
You'll die together but alone
You wrote me in a letter
You couldn't say it right to my face
Give me that sunday school answer
Repent yourself away
[Chorus]
Does it hurt to know I'll never be there for you
Bet it sucks, seeing my face everywhere
It was you, who chose to end it like you did
I was the last to know you knew
Exactly what you would do
Don't say, you simply lost your way
They may believe you but i never will
Never again
[Bridge]
Never again will i hear you
Never again will i miss you
Never again will i fall to you
Never
Never again will i kiss you
Never again will i want to
Never again will i love you
Never
[Chorus]
Does it hurt to know I'll never be there for you
Bet it sucks, seeing my face everywhere
It was you, who chose to end it like you did
I was the last to know you knew
Exactly what you would do
Don't say, you simply lost your way
They may believe you but i never will
I never will
I never will
Never again
Never Again- Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Clarkson in control and loving it

If you've been reading my blog you all know I'm a big Kelly Clarkson fan, I've mentioned how much I'm looking forward to her new album My December a number of times. What I haven't mentioned is how big of a struggle this album became for Kelly creatively.
When the music exec's first heard Kelly's latest effort, they really didn't like it because they thought it was too dark. I remember reading that they wanted her to at one point scrap the whole thing!. I guess they wanted her to make a copy of her previous one.
That's all the labels do nowadays, make copies of the originals. Pretty soon there will be no music labels because everyone will be independent.
The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly has a revealing in-depth interview with Kelly about these very issues. It's quite a good read actually.
Here are some of my favourite bits:
"So when Clarkson decided not to reunite with any of the producers who helped craft that record's five ultra-catchy top 20 singles, insiders say that BMG Label Group's chairman, 40-year music veteran Clive Davis, sat on My December for four months, hoping she'd change her mind. She wouldn't".
Ok, gotta say gutsy move, yet somehow I think she made the right choice. Now I really know her album will not end up like Avril's latest effort.
I love the answer she gives in regards to her weight. Right on Kelly!. More people should have this attitude, especially in the world of (skinny) celebrities.
"Some of the songs are not what 10-year-olds are probably going to listen to. But we all go through situations for certain reasons, and I think we should share that. This record is more intense, it's more raw, it's more emotional. But it's not that different. It's not Metallica".
I'm actually loving the fact that this new album is going to be darker and more on the brooding side. Every artist has those times where things are not all hunky-dory, and I applaud her for not being afraid to explore that on her album. Now I really can't wait to hear it!.
And I also have to add, kudos to Kelly for not sticking with the norm and conforming to the labels wishes. That's one of the things I really like about her she continues to breakaway from the whole American Idol mold and is truly evolving as an artist in her own right. Which I think is something that only she has been able to do successfully, ok her and maybe Carrie Underwood.
As for her album sales, well there's no telling how they'll do, but I know one thing for sure I'll be the first in line to purchase my copy:).

Kelly Clarkson-Never Again
So this is Kelly's latest music video from her soon to be released album "My December". Which I hope shows some growth unlike Avril Lavigne's latest effort.
Somehow I don't think she'll disappoint if this song is anything to go by. I would describe this video as fun, sexy, goofy and a little freaky. But quite enjoyable nonetheless.
The only quibble I have with it, is the Britney Spears-like beginning in the bathtub. Other then that thumbs up to Kelly, I can't wait to hear her new stuff :).

Another One of Those Days
This song just seems to really resonate with me, certain parts of it do on a daily basis lately. It's a song called Addicted by Kelly Clarkson. And I promised myself I wouldn't do this kind of thing, but with the day I've had what the hell.
It's like you are a drug
It's like you are a demon I can't face down
It's like I'm stuck It's like I'm running from you all the time
And I know I let you have all the power
It's like the only company
I seek is misery all around
It's like you are a leech
Sucking the life from me
It's like I can't breathe
Without you inside of me
And I know I let you have all the power
And I realize I'm never gonna quit you over time
It's like I can't breathe
It's like I can't see anything
Nothing but you
I'm addicted to you
It's like I can't think
Without you interrupting me
In my thoughts, in my dreams
You've taken over me
It's like I'm not me
It's like I'm lost
It's like I'm giving up slowly
It's like you are a ghost that's haunting me
Leave me alone
And I know these voices in my head are mine alone
And I know I'll never change my ways if I don't give you up now
It's like I'm not me
It's like I'm not me
I'm hooked on you
I need a fix I can't take it
Just one more hit
I promise I can deal with it
I'll handle it, quit it Just one more time, then that's it
Just a little bit more to get me through this
It's like I can't breathe
It's like I can't see anything
Nothing but you
I'm addicted to you
It's like I can't think
Without you interrupting me
In my thoughts, in my dreams
You've taken over me
It's like I'm not me
It's like I'm not me
