Alias reboot?

One of the greatest TV series of all time, J.J. Abrams’ Alias, is reportedly being rebooted.

Although an insider tells E! that “nothing is even close to being anything official yet.”

The new version of Alias would “borrow some elements of the original series that starred Jennifer Garner (and Michael Vartan, Victor Garber and Bradley Cooper). But the series would most likely not include any sort of complex mythological throughline such as the Rambaldi prophecy (a storyline that lost some of the fans).”

Just for fun: Another TV personality quiz

Hmmm....that sounds a little like me. Guess that's why Vaughn has always been one of my faves.

Jennifer Garner from Alias to talk show host?

So apparently Jennifer Garner has decided to create a talk show and she's calling it: "The View for mothers", although there's no official name yet. According to Access Hollywood Jenn will serve as the executive producer and appear on the show periodically sort of like Barbara Walters. So I guess technically she's not really the host.

I'm not sure what to think of this, and frankly I really can't see Jenn as a talk show host, butt kicking action heroine....well duh!. But talk show host?. I don't know. Although as I've said since she's stepping into the shoes of a producer, who knows?. It may not be so bad.

Francie joins forces with Mcdreamy's wife

Merrin Dungey
Kate Walsh

I just love it when my favourite actresses from past shows get a gig on upcoming ones:). In this case it's Merrin Dungey who played Sydney Bristow's (Jennifer Garner's) best friend Francie on Alias. She will be joining the cast of Kate Walsh's (Addison Shepard) Grey's Anatomy spin-off on ABC.

No details yet on what type of character she'll be playing. I must say I was happy to see she's finally getting some work.

The last thing I remember seeing her in was the short lived series Summerland. Let's hope this one lasts longer. With two great female leads, it makes you wonder who'll be cast in the male roles.

New releases this week

The 5th and final season of "Alias" comes out today. Been a long time coming too!. Hope it's filled with some good extras.

In the music world there's American Idol contestant Chris Daughtry's debut album. I took a listen to it on AOL and I thought it sounded great. A lot of people are saying he sounds like Chad from Nickelback. I think there might be a slight resemblance but he definitely has his own style and some good old fashioned rock tunes.

J.J. Abrams makes big bucks in Hollywood

Wow, who would have thought that the guy who started out making shows like Felicity would become one of the most sought after writers/producers in Hollywood?.

To me his best work will always be Alias. But I know that a lot of people are into Lost. I guess I'm just one of those who doesn't really get it.

This multi-million dollar deal also makes me wonder exactly what type of future projects Paramount and Warner Bros. have in mind.

Although, whatever they are I'm sure J.J. will be up to the challenge, now if only they would hurry up and release the 5th season DVD of Alias. I would be a happy woman:D.

Here are the details from a Yahoo article:

Alias Series Finale

I thought it was pretty good, a bit predictable at the end but at least it ended on a fairly happy note.

Only thing I could have done without was Sloane coming back from the dead after being shot in the head . And if he could do that because of Rambaldi then why couldn't Irina do the same thing?.

Oh, and the Rambaldi thing? so unnecessary. Sorry I've never been a fan of this particular story line too sci-fi for a spy show. Or maybe I just expect Alias to be too much like Nikita lol. And I really hate that Jack died.

If I had to choose I think I would rather Vaughn stayed dead. Although I guess it would not have been as cheerful an ending. But to be honest I stopped caring about the whole Sydney/Vaughn thing after the second season.

I mean I understand why it was done, basically every character faced their nemesis and for Jack that has always been Sloane. So it was sort of fitting that he's the one who trapped Sloane in a Mongolian cave for all eternity. I just wish Jack didn't have to die in the process. That's always the case all of my favorite characters seem to die lol.

And I didn't care much for the character of Tom since I knew he was a traitor from the beginning, he did have some of the best lines though.

Out of the new characters in this last season I have to say I loved Rachel, I thought the actress did a wonderful job. Really made you feel for the character. And I love that Rachel's character grew and developed as the season went on, and that in the end she sort of became the next Sydney Bristow by deciding to continue being a spy.

And I gotta say I think one of the best guest stars Alias has ever had besides Irina Derevko (Lena Olin) and Anna Espenosa(Gina Torres) would have to be Payton(Amy Acker). She's such a wonderful baddie, and the actress really seemed enjoy what she was doing. It showed in her acting. I don't know what it is about Amy Acker but she's really good at playing evil characters.

I liked the fact that they kept it as Sydney continuing on, and still doing missions because really a spy can never get out once they're in. They'll always be needed and they do that for the rest of their lives so at least that was accurate.

Oh, and I could have done without ghost Nadia too, really the first 2 years of Alias were the best. But all in all the finale wasn't bad, could have been worse. Overall it was very well done. I think the parts I enjoyed the most were all the flashbacks. It was great to see Francie again. I'm really gonna miss this show:(.
