Phone frustrations

Over the past couple of weeks we have had an obscene amount of phone-calls. Which is not unusual for this time of year, but it's no less irritating.

I honestly thought of unplugging my phone and leaving it off at least till the end of the holiday season.

Well, ok the thought of throwing the phone against the wall crossed my mind more then once too lol.

But miraculously I was somehow able to curb that impulse and all my phones are still intact. Now don't get me wrong, I completely understand all those charities and telemarketers, it is their job and that's how they make their money.

Which is why I always try to treat them with the same respect I would want to be treated. But after the 5th or 6th call in a given day even the most patient person can only take so much!.

Now of course you're thinking, why the heck are you picking those up, that's what answering machines are for, right?.

Well unfortunately (thanks to the advancements in communication technology many of them will call back using a different number).

Thereby suckering you into thinking they're a different person. In my case many of those are also very similar to international numbers, and since almost all of my family live over seas we have no choice but to pick up.

I'm sure some of you are also thinking, ok so the ringing of the phone can be irritating, but that's why they invented the volume button.

And you'd also be right but it's not just the ringing of the phone that pisses me off, it's the pushy sales methods of the person on the other end.

It's no wonder some people loose all decorum with these guys, when you have to say "I'm not interested" 10 times and they're still not getting the message, there really is no choice but to either start yelling or hang up.

Anyway, that fills my rant quota for this year, I better end this before it turns into a novel LOL.

Trials and tribulations of installing a new modem

Wow, it seems like forever since I've updated, well that's what happens when your ISP suddenly decides to change their modems. Any technological change for me always leads to frustration and this time was no exception.

It was suppose to be a simple swap, and instead turned into a 7 day nightmare. After hours of waiting and talking to tech support no one could figure out why my spiffy new DSL modem didn't want to connect to the Internet when the hardware seemed fine.

What was first perceived to be a major issue turned out to be a combination of pure simplicity, stupidity and miscommunication.

A simple misspelling of an account password (by one letter no less!). Another perfect example of why when it comes to technology you should always look at the obvious instead of the more complicated.

Good thing I took the initiative and called after a week of waiting 'cause something tells me I would have waited another week otherwise. If I never talk to another tech person again it'll be too soon.

Taking the initiative wasn't that hard really, if I had to wait another week I think I might have gone insane with boredom. In any case it's good to be back :).

Communication breakdown

You ever have one of those days where all communication between you and the people you live with totally breaks down?. That's the kind of weekend I've had, no communication going on whatsoever.

I especially hate it when said people tell you not to make any plans because they want you to be available on such and such a day for some kind of get together.

And then when the get together gets cancelled they don't even bother to inform you until a day after the fact. It's so frustrating!.

A little communication would go a long way.

BLOG ARCHIVING 101

I was debating on whether to say anything about this but my frustrations on this issue won out. Before I get to what this is all about I just wanna say this is only a friendly reminder though it's delivery may not sound as such blame it on the type of mood I'm in.

Ok, so on with the topic, I think a lot of people from my visitors, to my friends, to my family members are under the impression that my blog is only focused on Tennis. And I admit it may seem that way at first since the main reason I started it was to share my passion for the sport with other people. But I must point out that the reason people have that impression is because a lot of them don't check the little feature on the blog called an archive.

Let me explain how it works, first off any topic that I write on any given day will be at the very top, that's because an archive sorts the posts in accordance to it's date so the most recent post will always be at the top and the days proceeding it will be at the bottom.

I also have to point out that when clicking on an archive (located right underneath previous posts on the right side of the blog) you are looking at the total posts from the entire month not just one day (for example the month of March). So that means the month may contain anywhere from 1 to 31 posts.

Oh, and I cannot stress this point enough when visiting my blog be sure to scroll down and read the entire page (keep going down till you see the page counter) because as I've mentioned above the month contains more then one topic. I know it may seem time consuming to some but that's just the way the blog is set up, one month is one long page.

Is anyone detecting frustration at this point? lol

Oh, and one more thing I did start the blog last year which means it now contains topics from 2006 and 2007 so be sure to click on them that's what they're there for.

Again please remember to scroll down, I'm sick of being accused of covering only one topic, when in fact I cover many.

Hope this helps and happy reading to all.

And now back to our regularly scheduled program;)

I'm back!! er, well my blog that is lol. First off my most sincerest apologies to all the readers returning and new.

I'm sure you were starting to wonder what the heck happened to my blog, and why you kept getting a blank page. Well I had some extreme technical difficulties in the past week.

Some major issues with my template, not sure what happened whether I was hacked or what but either way it wasn't pleasant.

I've been tearing my hair out trying to figure out what happened and how to fix it. Took me a while but as you can see things are back to normal.

I have a lot of topics on the back burner, and I'll start to post them as time allows. I'm a little busy at the moment with some life stuff but should have ample free time at the end of next week.

Hopefully all of you have hang in there and will come back for a visit often now that things are back to normal, because I have a lot more to say;).

Frustrations abound

I'm going to be doing some job hunting in the next couple of days, probably for the rest of this week. The rents are getting really sick of me sitting at home and not doing much. Plus I have some student loans looming over my head so I have no choice.

I have no idea what I'm going for, basically going in totally blind. Hoping to get some help from people who specialize in pointing others in a certain direction. It's what happens when you take a 2 year course in College and then realize that's not what you really wanna do or exactly which direction to go in.

Mostly I'll be doing a lot of phoning and getting up early, oh joy. Anyhoo, I guess we'll see how things work out. Hell at this rate I don't expect to get anything till January. But gotta please the parental units and at least pretend like I care so they get off my back.

Boy, this has turned into one cheerful post huh? lol. At least it's making me feel better getting things off my chest. Did I mention how much I dislike this time of year by the way?. I do. I'm the total opposite of what I should be at this time.

But I guess it's because I don't enjoy Christmas the same way that I used to when I was a kid. It's not fun anymore, to me Christmas is forced family togetherness and obligatory phone calls. Anyway that's it for my rant I didn't even realize I had this much to say when I started lol.
