Martina Hingis' husband claims he was physically attacked by Martina and her mom

Now that she is done with tennis, perhaps Martina Hingis could try boxing or mixed martial arts.

Not content with seemingly cheating on him twice, the former women's tennis world number one has apparently beat up her estranged husband with the help of her mum, according to several Swiss newspapers.

French showjumper Thibault Hutin claimed in July that he had walked in on Hingis to find her with another man after one year of marriage. He took her back only to discover her cheating again.

In a bizarre twist, Hutin - who is waiting to divorce the Grand Slam champion - claims he was sitting at home minding his own business when Hingis, her mother and her mother's boyfriend combined to launch an attack on him.

“On Monday evening, I was in our shared apartment when the doorbell rang. In the course of a dispute, Martina and her mother Melanie Molitor pounced on me - beating and scratching me. My upbringing forbids me to beat women," he told Blick.

"I resisted every effort but Mario Widmer, the partner of Melanie, struck me in the head with a DVD player. ”

Hutin says he had to call police to recover his credit card and passport from the trio. A police report apparently suggests it was a "violent incident" with Hutin claiming he had received threatening text messages.

He has since moved into a hotel with plans to return to Paris.

“The policemen went back to the apartment with me and forced the three to surrender my valuables," Hutin is quoted as saying.

“They wanted to kill me. I’m shocked! I never thought it would go so far."

The induction of Swiss tennis star Martina Hingis into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in the US this weekend is being overshadowed in the Swiss media by reports of her infidelities.

Hingis, 32, is to be honoured along with Australian tennis great Thelma Coyne Long at a ceremony at the Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island on Saturday.

But attention in Switzerland's press is less focused on Hingis's legacy of five Grand Slam titles from the late 1990s than on revelations from her husband, French equestrian Thibault Hutin, who claims she has cheated on him on numerous occasions.

Hutin, who is six years younger than Hingis, told Swiss newspaper Sonntagsblick in an interview of her extramarital affairs.

"A year after the wedding . . . we were supposed to meet in New York and I wanted to giver her a surprise," he told the German-language paper.

"Upon arriving at the hotel room it was me that was surprised," Hutin said.

"Because Martina was not alone."

Hutin said he tried to save the marriage but "late last year I found out that she had cheated on me again".

On Monday, Schweizer Illustrierten magazine reported Hingis announcing that she and her husband had been separated since the beginning of the year.

However, Hutin was not aware of this, Blick said.

Hingis is now reported to be coupled with David Tosas Ros, a Spanish sports management executive.

All of which is beside the point for the Tennis Hall of Fame, which is recognizing the Slovakian-born former professional player for her strokes on — not off — the court.

Hingis was the world's number one women’s singles player for 209 weeks, winning three consecutive Australian Opens, one Wimbledon title and one US Open between 1997 and 1999.



She also held the world number one doubles ranking for 35 weeks, making her one of just five women in history to have been the world number one in singles and doubles simultaneously, the Hall of Fame noted.

Hingis won nine doubles titles and one mixed doubles title for a total of 15 major titles.

Officially a resident of the village of Hurden in the canton of Schwyz, she was forced to withdraw from professional tennis in 2002 at the age of 22 due to ligament injuries.

After surgery, she returned to the WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) tour in 2006 but she announced her retirement the following year after testing positive for cocaine during the Wimbledon tournament.

Hingis denied using the drug but did not contest a ban imposed by the International Tennis Federation.

Q: How big is the “Hingis Stable”?

A: My best and most expensive horse “Kolibris Perle” is in a German stable and is trained by Hans Dreher. Myself I ride two horses: Catch the Wind and Darconi.

Q: This means you get up at six in the morning and you clean up the dung?

A: No. To get up early is not my business! I just enjoy the luxury that the horse is ready when I arrive at the stable. Once a week I ride together with my mom. Then we speak about all of our lives – like formerly at the tennis courts. We understand one another very well. I am glad that she lives nearby . So I know where to go when my refrigerator is empty. I am also grateful for what Mario is doing for me. We are a good trio.

Q: How do you spend your day?

A: I enjoy my new liberties. I sleep longer, at nine I am in the stable, I enjoy the garden in the afternoon, I meet friends. And I am studying for the motorboat driving test. I have a boat but no driving licence.

Q: And you are shopping. Which designers fill your wardrobe?

A: I like Dior, but also Cavalli, Dolce &-Gabana, Versace. There were also times when I shopped more. Now my horses are more important.

Q: Not a shoe-fanatic?

A: A little bit. But when I read how many shoes Beyoncé or others have, I feel that I am quite modest.

Q: Where can we meet you in Zurich or in the wide world?

A: My friend showed me some restaurants, which I didn’t know before: “La Côte”, “Lasalle”, “Idaburg” for instance. Sometimes I go to the bars of “Helvetia” or “Widder”. I like London, Paris. I also want to go to New York again.

Q: After many months you had three interviews this week, which was probably not so easy for you. I am sure you will reward yourself for this.

A: I have already done that. I bought at Grieder a new dress, more precisely I bought two – one by Dolce & Gabbana and one by Patrizia Pepe. There was a “2 for 1” offer. I am now a “bargain hunter”.

It's interesting that she mentioned getting her sponsors and agents back I thought she didn't want to return to the WTA?.

Or is it that you still need them even for exhibitons?. Anyone out there know?. 'Cause I'm confused.

Oh, and I am so with her on the Aussie Open the time difference just kills me (over the years I've learned it's best to just tape the matches).

Also I loved her comment on going home to raid her mom's fridge *lol*. I guess no matter how old we get we'll always find ways to mooch off our parents.
