Hingis dominates into second round at Aussie Open

Now that's what I like to see! a, 6/0 first set and Martina Hingis completely relaxed and dictating play through out. The first set only took her 19 minutes and she finished the whole thing under an hour.

Her opponent Natalie Dechy didn't stand a chance!. Martina's game was on, her serve was working her shots were working and she was really enjoying herself.

Best of all she did not lose focus through out even though the match wasn't that challenging for her. She fought in the second set at 1/0 and made her opponent work to even things out at 1/all.

It was the 5th deuce before Dechy was able to win her first point and get on the board. In the end Dechy was only able to win 2 games. Martina won the whole thing in 2 sets 6/0 6/2. A perfect first round start.

Of course the other thing working in her favour was the fact that unlike Sharapova who had a grueling match and almost lost, Hingis did not have to play outside with the roof up.

She played with the retractable roof down so that made the conditions much nicer to play in. I wanna see Hingis make it far so she can enjoy the energy of the crowd, the Aussie crowds are incredible and they absolutely love Martina.

Some might say Dechy is not really a dangerous player or as dangerous as the top tens, well from what I hear she can be. Either way it was still an amazing result. And having a head to head record of 6-0 or is it 7 now? against Dechy probably didn't hurt either lol.

Another player who breezed through the first round was Kim Clijsters with 6/0 6/0. With a result like that it's hard to believe she's retiring at the end of the year. Hingis is once again in the same quarter as Clijsters so if Hingis were to make it these 2 would clash again in the quarters, but that's a long way off.

In any case I think today's result proves to Hingis's opponents and fans that she means business and has no intention of going out early. And that's exactly what I wanted to see. Here's hoping her next match is just as good.
