O'Donnell to replace Vieira on The View

Got this in my in box through one of the Yahoo Groups, looks like things will get very interesting on The View.

Rosie O'Donnell is reportedly returning to daytime television as Meredith Vieira's replacement on the popular ABC morning talk show The View, now in its ninth season. She'll join co-hosts Barbara Walters, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Joy Behar, and Star Jones Reynolds in discussing entertainment and pop culture news and interviewing celebrities.

Here is an article confirming the news:
http://www.fox23news.com/entertainment/story.aspx?content_id=5D04907C-8115-49DE-99B8-326C33ADE8D5

What the heck one more for good measure:D

You may not know this but many non-living things have a gender.

1) Ziploc Bags are Male, because they hold everything in, but you can see right through them.

2) Copiers are Female, because once turned off; it takes a while to warm them up again. It's an effective reproductive device if the right buttons are pushed, but can wreak havoc if the wrong buttons are pushed.

3) A Tire is Male, because it goes bald and it's often over-inflated.

4) A Hot Air Balloon is Male, because, to get it to go anywhere, you have to light a fire under it, and of course, there's the hot air part.

5) Sponges are Female, because they're soft, squeezable and retain water.

6) A Web Page is Female because it's always getting hit on.

7) A Subway is Male, because it uses the same old lines to pick people up.

8) An Hour glass is Female, because over time, the weight shifts to the bottom.

9) A Hammer is Male, because it hasn't changed much over the last 5,000 years, but it's handy to have around.

10) A Remote Control is Female. Ha! You thought it'd be male, didn't you? But consider this,-it gives a man pleasure, he'd be lost without it, and while he doesn't always know the right buttons to push, he keeps trying!

And one more for fun:)

An English teacher was explaining to his students the concept of gender association in the English language. He stated how hurricanes at one time were given feminine names and how ships and planes were usually referred to as "she".

One of the students raised their hand and asked - "What gender is a computer"? The teacher wasn't certain which it was, so he divided the class into two groups, males in one, females in the other, and asked them to decide if a computer should be masculine or feminine.

Both groups were asked to give four reasons for their recommendation.
The group of women concluded that computers should be referred to in the masculine gender because:

1. In order to get their attention, you have to turn them on.

2. They have a lot of data but are still clueless.

3. They are supposed to help you solve your problems, but half the time they ARE the problem.

4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that, if you had waited a little longer, you could have had a better model.

The men, on the other hand, decided that computers should definitely be referred to in the feminine gender because:

1. No one but their creator understands their internal logic.

2. The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else.
3. Even your smallest mistakes are stored in long-term memory for later retrieval.

4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending half your paycheck on accessories for it.

More funnies:D

9 Things I Hate About People

1. People who point at their wrist while asking for the time.... I know where my watch is pal, where the heck is yours?

2 People who are willing to get off their butt to search the entire room for the T.V. remote because they refuse to walk to the T.V. and change the channel manually.

3 When people say "Oh you just want to have your cake and eat it too". Of course! What good is cake if you can't eat it?

4 When people say "it's always the last place you look". Of course it is. Why would you keep looking after you've found it?

5 When people say while watching a film "did you see that?". No, I paid $12 to come to the cinema and stare at the floor.

6 People who ask "Can I ask you a question?".... Didn't really give me a choice there, did ya?

7. When something is 'new and improved!'. Which is it? If it's new, then there has never been anything before it. If it's an improvement, then there must have been something before it, couldn't be new.

8 When people say "life is short". What? Life is the longest thing anyone ever does!! What can you do that's longer?

9 When you are waiting for the bus and someone asks "Has the bus come yet?". If the bus came would I be standing here?

I got the funnies:)

I read these jokes on a Xena Message Board I belong to and found them so funny I just had to share, so enjoy;).

1.) A doctor calls his patient to give him the results of his test. "I have some bad news and some worse news", says the doctor. "The bad news is that you only have 24 hours to live."

"Oh no", says the patient. "What could be worse than that?"
The doctor answers, "I've been trying to reach you since yesterday."

2.) A wife is reading a magazine article and says to her husband, "That's interesting. It says here that women use 3,000 words a day, but men only use 1,500." And then she added, "It's probably because we have to repeat everything."
The husband says, "What?"

Dear Tech Support:

Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed that the new program began making unexpected changes to the accounting modules, limiting access to flower and jewelry applications that had operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0.

In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.9 but installed undesirable programs such as NFL 5.0 and NBA 3.0. Conversation 8.0 no longer runs and HouseCleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system.

I've tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail.

Signed: Desperate Wife

---------- REPLY ---------

Dear Troubled User:

Keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an entertainment package, while Husband 1.0 is an operating system.

Try to enter the command: C:/I THOUGHT YOU LOVED ME and install Tears 6.2. Husband 1.0 should then automatically run the applications: Guilty 3.0 and Flowers 7.0.

But remember, overuse can cause Husband 1.0 to default to GrumpySilence 2.5, Happyhour 7.0 or Beer 6.1. Beer 6.1 is a very bad program that will create "Snoring Loudly" wave files.

DO NOT install MotherInLaw 1.0 or reinstall another Boyfriend program. These are not supported applications and will crash Husband 1.0.

In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly.

Consider buying additional software to improve performance. I personally recommend HotFood 3.0, Lingerie 5.3 and Keep-a-nice-body 10.1.

Best of luck,

Tech Support

Music done by the stars

Yes I mean Hollywood stars. This week courtesy of AOL's Listening Party I've had the opportunity to listen to a benefit cd called Unexpected Dreams: Songs from the Stars. Which is a collection of lullabies sang by Hollywood actors. And it's really not bad there are a lot of surprising artists on it that I never knew could sing.

Among the most surprising are people like Jennifer Garner (Alias), Victor Garber (Alias), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Seinfield), Jeremy Irons, Ewan McGregor and Teri Hatcher just to name a few.

But the best one of them all and my favorite is Lucy Lawless's (Xena) song called"Little Child".

Damn the woman can sing!. But of course I already knew that:D. Anyway for anyone who wants to check it out it will be available for listening only until this Monday.

Then on Tuesday the selection changes and new Listening Parties are posted.

Click on the link

  • Scroll through till you find the cover above:). Also be aware that first time visitors will have to download AOL's player but it's not too difficult.

    Been a while:)

Since I've updated, well there really hasn't been anything interesting in the last few days or so. Keeping with my tennis obsession lol. I thought I would just post some pics of who else, but my fave tennis player Martina Hingis:D.

These are from an annual charity event called Advanta World Team Tennis Smash Hits that took place on the 7th of November 2005. It's hosted by Elton John and the proceeds go to his AIDS Foundation. It featured many other great tennis players like James Blake and Andy Roddick even Anna Kournikova:D.

I've never seen these before and it looks like everyone had lots of fun. I think even Sir Elton John was playing lol.

Elton giving some tennis pointers to Andy Roddick while Martina watches on:)

James Blake, Thomas Blake, Elton and Martina and Anna posing for pics:)

Martina and Anna hanging out from what I've heard they are great friends and great doubles partners who would have thought lol.

All pics are from the Martina Hingis Messageboard already linked on the blog:).

Whitney Houston off the wagon again

It's sad really this is someone I used to admire, and absolutely loved for her artist ability and voice. But in recent years that's been hard to do, since she continues to have problems with drugs. But I blame Mr. Bobby Brown for that. I wish she would leave the guy already.

    Anyway

    Irony thy name is Tom

Just read about this today, apparently Brooke Shields the same woman whom Tom Cruise criticized about taking drugs for postpartum depression. Give birth to her second child also a baby girl on the same day as Katie Holmes.

I've also heard that it was in the same hospital. Those are pure rumors only though. But if this isn't the definition of irony, I don't know what is lol.

I just knew that one day, karma would come and bite dear Tom in the butt for those postpartum comments lol. I love it when I'm right lol.

Here is the article for those interested:

    The agony is over!

Or should I say silent agony?. Katie Holmes has finally given birth to Tom Cruises demon spawn, er I mean his baby girl lol. I won't mention the name you can all click on the article link for that;).

All I have to say is thank god! and hope we don't hear about them for a long while to come (what? I can dream)lol. Because I for one am beyond sick of them both. Anyway here is the proof if you're at all interested:

  • Here is the AOL People article
  • The Green Power Ranger (Tommy)

Yes you read correctly I said the Green Power Ranger of the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers:D. I was a huge fan of it back in the day, boy where did the time go?. Now I feel totally old lol.

Anyway I found this on a message board and decided to post about it. Plus I used to have a huge crush on the guy lol. Apparently the guy who played Tommy Jason David Frank is a kickboxing champ and an impressive martial arts instructor (6th degree black belt).

Mel Gibson's next flick another subtitle nightmare

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Movie fans will have to wait a bit longer to see Mel Gibson's next foray into olden times, the Mayan epic Apocalypto.

The action adventure has been bumped from Aug. 4 release to Dec. 8. A spokesman for Disney, which is releasing Apocalypto, said Sunday the production had fallen behind because of heavy rains in the wilds of Mexico, where Gibson is shooting the film.

Like Gibson's religious blockbuster The Passion of the Christ, which was shot in Aramaic and Latin, Apocalypto is being done in an ancient tongue, Yucatec Maya.

Apocalypto follows the journey of a Mayan hero on the run through the rainforests of pre-Columbian Mexico.

  • Link to Yahoo source article available here

  • Now I love Mel Gibson and I think he's an amazing director but I really can't understand why he insists on doing his movies in all these ancient languages.

I think that will prove to be very annoying for the movie going public.
Since once again they'll be stuck with reading subtitles all throughout the movie.

    Happy Easter!!

It's that time again Happy Easter!! to everyone who celebrates it (myself included) safe and happy festivities. Don't drink or eat too much lol. That will be my goal, at least the eating part;).

American Idol reruns on the Internet

NEW YORK (Reuters) - News Corp.'s Fox network has signed a six-year agreement with its 187 affiliated stations that will let it show reruns of its television programs on the Internet, the Wall Street Journal reported on its Web site on Thursday.

The revenue-sharing agreement allows Fox to make 60 percent of its prime-time schedule available online the morning after the shows air, the Journal reported.

The formula is complex, but stations essentially will get a 12.5 percent cut after costs, the paper also reported.

A News Corp. spokesman was not immediately available for comment.

Fox is the home of hit programs such as "American Idol" and "The Simpsons," and is the latest television network to take a shot at making its programming available online as more people turn to the Internet for entertainment.

Walt Disney Co.'s ABC television network announcement earlier this week that it will offer some of its most popular shows, including "Desperate Housewives" and "Lost," for free on an advertising-supported Web service.

It also comes after CBS Corp. made the "March Madness" NCAA college basketball playoff games available online.

General Electric Co.'s NBC last December started offering programs for sale on Apple Computer Inc.'s iTunes downloading service.

  • Link to article source available here

  • Normally I don't post articles much less ones on reality t.v. but American Idol and The Amazing Race are the only 2 reality t.v. shows that I can not only stand but like.

So I find this piece of news encouraging it'll allow me to watch whatever I miss online:) barring that's it's free of course lol.

Shopping, E-cards and other geek essentials:)

Choosing an e-card can be such a pain in the butt, a lot of them are either to suggestive or too childish. I had to spend an entire hour on Wednesday sending 15 e-cards, and I honestly thought I would go nuts lol. I have a big family so I actually have to keep a list of all the people I need to send e-cards to each holiday lol.

Also I wanted to mention this a few weeks back, but the weekend that my bird died my parents and I went out on a little shopping spree to keep our mind off things and to cheer ourselves up I guess. These shopping sprees usually include essentials like shoes, clothes and food. And in keeping with my geek roots some type of electronic equipment or hardware lol.

In this case it was a brand new fax machine, well ok a fax, scanner, printer combo:D. Ok and a battery back up for my lovely computer to give it longer life lol. Now I had endless discussions with the parent units over the fax, that is I wanted to get just a regular fax with out all the combos.

Because really how often does any person use a fax in a span of a year? once?. And my main argument was that I already have a scanner, printer, copier combo so really why get another? and from the same company. But as you may already have guessed some people are just impossible to convince no matter how much logic is thrown at them so in the end we ended up with the combo. And basically we've used it once so far and that's not even the fax lol.

Well that's the end of my rant I've been wanting to get that off my chest for weeks lol.

Martina Hingis feeling the need for speed:)

I meant to post this back in March but totally forgot about it. On March 22 before Martina went on to play in the Nasdaq 100 she had some fun with a race car driver named Hélio Castroneves.

No, not the kind of fun I'm sure you're all thinking lol. Just regular clean fun;). She got to ride around in a race car and the race car driver played on court against Martina. Just to level it I guess;).

Now I don't know much about racing nor do I care for it. But I just had to post these pics on my blog if nothing else then to show how much fun one of my favourite tennis players has off the tennis court. Plus they are just damn good pics lol. And the photographers love Martina Hingis.

Gwyneth Paltrow give birth to a baby boy

Gwyneth Paltrow, yep same woman who named her baby girl Apple lol.
Well apparently she give birth to a baby boy this past weekend.

And what did she name him you ask? Well I thought nothing was worse then Apple but the woman managed to prove me wrong lol.

She named the little guy Moses. In the spirit of Easter or the anticipation of ABC's adaptation of "The 10 Commandments" perhaps?. Who knows?. In any case his full name is Moses Martin to be exact.

Like the kid needed to have more problems lol. I don't know what her obsession with biblical names and fruits is but her kids are gonna be in need of therapy before they reach middle school.

I admit that Moses is better than Apple by a slight margin. But a very slight one. So it's Apple and Moses, well at least she didn't go with orange lol. I'm sure the kids will appreciate that someday:D.

    Martina Hingis's Body Double:)

Nah, just kidding;) that is actually a wax figure of Martina from Madame Tassaud's Museum in London. I found it really cool that Martina was immortalized in wax at the ripe old age of 16 lol.

The figure itself is very well done I think even Martina approves of it by the smile on her face;). I decided to post this on my blog 'cause it cheered me up and because as I'm sure everyone knows by now lol Martina is my favorite athlete.

    The Chronicles of Narnia Review

To cheer myself up a bit I rented The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe that came out on DVD today.

And I gotta say I was definitely not disappointed. I thought it was a wonderful interpretation of the book.

The movie stayed true to the book I think only 2 or 3 things were changed to make the movie flow better but other than that it was exactly like the book.

Since the book was written so well I don't think the Director had too many problems with the dialogue. I guess the thing that took the longest was all the CGI.

Speaking of the Director I thought New Zealander Andrew Adamson (same guy who directed both Shrek movies) did a wonderful job. And kudos to the casting department for choosing the right actors to play the kids, especially the one who played Lucy Pevensie.

Very believable and engaging performances all around. Also absolutely loved the actress who played the White Witch, she was just as chilling in the movie as she was in the book if not more so kudos to her.

The CGI is pretty amazing as well I loved the beavers, cracked me up:D. The wolves and mythological creatures were also well done.

Then of course there was Aslan himself, they did a wonderful job with him although I'm not sure I would have chosen Liam Neeson as the voice of the lion. I guess they chose him 'cause he does have a very deep one.

And as for the scenery, well this was another excuse for me to watch some more of New Zealand's beautiful landscapes.

For those who don't know I have a total obsession with this particular country lol.

All in all it was very enjoyable, since I read the book as a kid I always wanted to see the movie adaptation and who better to do it then Disney?.

Again they did an outstanding job. And from what I have read Disney plans to turn all 7 books into film so I can't wait for the next one. Although it's a long wait next one doesn't come out till 2007. I think if I had kids this would definitely be the movie I would take them to see. Because its one that adults would thoroughly enjoy as well.

If I had to rate this movie I would give it 4/5 stars, the only thing that was lacking was not enough special features. I would have loved to have seen more of the making of Narnia.

    RIP:(

I am writing this with a very heavy heart. I just wanted to let the readers of my blog know that my pet parrot has died this morning:( .

Even though I'm very sad at the moment, and my eyes are sore from crying. I am taking solace in the fact that at least she's not suffering anymore.

Because she really has been and it was so hard to watch. We are going to go bury her later today when my dad gets home.

Even though I've said that I don't like to post lyrics of songs. I will do so this time in honor of my bird.

There is a song called Fly by Celine Dion that is really appropriate and it describes how I'm feeling at the moment.

    Fly, fly little wing

    Fly beyond imagining

The softest cloud, the whitest dove

Upon the wind of heaven's love

Past the planets and the stars

Leave this lonely world of ours

Escape the sorrow and the pain

    And fly again

    Fly, fly precious one

    Your endless journey has begun

    Take your gentle happiness

    Far too beautiful for this

Cross over to the other shore

    There is peace forevermore

    But hold this mem'ry bittersweet

    Until we meet

    Fly, fly do not fear

    Don't waste a breath, don't shed a tear

Your heart is pure, your soul is free

Be on your way, don't wait for me

    Above the universe you'll climb

On beyond the hands of time

The moon will rise, the sun will set

    But I won't forget

    Fly, fly little wing

    Fly where only angels sing

Fly away, the time is right

    Go now, find the light

    http://www.seeklyrics.com/lyrics/CELINE-DION/Fly.html

Rest in Peace Marysia I will miss you:(.

My poor bird is still sick:(

And a small update unfortunately it's still not the good news I had hoped to write.

It's been four days now and I'm getting concerned again because she didn't want to eat much today or yesterday, all she's doing is sleeping and she's still very very weak.

I think we may have to take her to the vet again if we see signs of her getting worse . I hate seeing her like this:(.

The vet did say that she would be weak for several days so I guess we are gonna wait and see.

She did have x-rays done as well and there was nothing unusual with her stomach.

I guess we're not quite out of the woods yet:(

For anyone who doesn't know what I mean when I say cockatiel parrot here is a picture of her;)
