Another year of wishes

I meant to mention this earlier in the day but fell asleep, I've been exhausted this week. Anyway I wanna wish my favourite couple Lucy Lawless and Rob Tapert a happy 9th wedding anniversary (March 28).

I wish them happiness, success and longevity in their personal and professional endeavors.

I also want to wish a very Happy Birthday to Mrs. Lawless who turns 39 today (March 29). Here's to a wonderful day filled with family, love, laughter and cheer. All the best.

As they say in New Zealand, good on ya! Lucy :) and wishing you luck with "Football Wives".

And on a happier note...

Martina posing with the other recipients of the Sony Ericsson WTA Award

Martina received another award this time from Sony Ericsson WTA for comeback of the year. So congrats to her, it's nice that she's still getting accolades after over a year of being back on the tour.

She has also reached the 20 million dollar mark in her career earnings and became one of only 4 players in the history of the WTA tour to do so. Steffi Graf, Lindsay Davenport and Martina Navratilova were among the other 3. Again not bad for 26 years old.

Hingis loses in 3rd round of Sony Ericsson

Martina Hingis lost in the 3rd round of Sony Ericsson today. Her opponent Agnieszka Radwanska from Poland, a player she normally has no trouble against. Now normally I would be quite happy to have a fellow country woman win. But not when it is against my all time favourite player.

Martina seemed to be doing ok in the beginning but as the match went on a lot of errors crept in, word is that Martina fell ill during the match thus the reason for her 3 set loss. From what I have read about the issue so far she took an uncharacteristic bathroom break in the 3rd set and told the umpire she was feeling ill to her stomach and wanted to throw up.

Now I don't know how much of it is true since Martina herself didn't mention anything of that sort in her post match interview. She did mention that she needs to get some rest and regroup physically and mentally most of all.

But nothing about the actual aforementioned illness. Not that she ever would blame illness as a reason for her loss, she never has. Heck when she lost at the French Open last year because of food poisoning she didn't say anything about it and cited poor play as a reason instead. She's a class act in that respect.

I'm not sure what to believe at the moment, I guess I'll just wait and see what surfaces on the subject in the next few days. Some people are of course speculating that she might be pregnant, which could definitely be a possibility.

But it could also be that she hasn't been doing so well in her last few tournaments and is sick of losing. Literally. Perhaps she is quite low on energy and resources, whatever the reason I hope she takes the time to take better care of herself so she can return to form re-energized.

Get well Martina and good luck at the Family Circle Cup. :)

Fashion 101

I have said this many times in the past but I feel the need to say it again. Martina Hingis knows how to dress and I really like her fashion sense. Take this photo for example:

Miami, FL, USA (March 21): Martina Hingis posed with Lauren Maneley, a 4th grader who participates in her local chapter of 'First Serve'. Lauren was invited to the Sony Ericsson Open because she had the best grades, read the most books and was the best tennis player from 'First Serve'

Casual, comfortable and still stylish at the same time. This one:

hingis.org

Simple yet elegant.

I really wish the same could be said for her soon to be husband Radek, but the monstrosity of a short he's wearing seems like something you'd wear to a beach on vacation and not a tennis event.

On second thought why wear it at all? it's hideous! It seriously doesn't suit him not to mention all those weird patterns are giving me a headache lol.

If I were Radek I would ditch the surfer look and take some clothing tips from his fiance, she knows what she's doing. Plus he's totally cramping her style.

I don't usually diss someones fashion but this one was a gimme.

Great Sony Ericsson WTA lineup

Aside from Mauresmo (who's out because of an appendix removal) pretty much everyone is showing up in Miami. So there's Clijsters, Hingis, Jankovic, Vaidesova, Petrova, Sharapova, Henin and last but not least both Williams sisters (surprisingly).

Should be an outstanding week of tennis I just wish I could see it. Hopefully I'll get to see the quarter finals at least. Let's hope Martina makes it there. I have a feeling she might, in fact I'm hoping she makes it past the quarters and into the finals:).

Just another manic Monday

Well ok not really but, damn I'm tired today. Still getting over a cold and this weather really doesn't help. I was so happy the snow had melted but I guess I celebrated too soon.

It's suppose to be really nice on Wednesday let's hope that happens. Some sun would really help my mood not to mention my energy level.

Off to bed now to get some well deserved rest.

Martina Hingis "Unbelievable"

Found this while doing some random searching on Youtube and since it relates to who else but Martina Hingis naturally I'm sharing it here:D

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KKw9IEx76c

It's a great music video and in surprisingly high quality which is rare. The song "Unbelievable" really works with the images. Great close-ups and slow-mo too so check it out.

After fighting with the embedded link thing for a half an hour I had to settle for the regular link, anyway enjoy;).

Ouch, that's gotta hurt!

Catching up on some tennis news while staying home sick (feeling like total crap of course). I didn't realize this but poor Martina lost to Daniela Hantuchova 2 times in a row in 2 different tournaments. First she lost to her in Qatar and then Pacific Life Open.

Now for Qatar she put up quite a fight and was actually totally in control of the match in the beginning until about the middle of the second set. Then she seemed to loose her concentration, perhaps got a little frustrated and started rushing. That's when the unforced errors started creeping in. She ended up loosing in 3 sets 6/1 4/6 4/6. In both tournaments though I don't think Martina was overpowered or anything like that, she just seemed to give up at certain points.

But like I said despite the loss she played some magnificent tennis, some of the best I've seen her play in a while. Long rallies, amazing drop shots, volleys, you name it she did it. It was an absolute joy to watch. As it always is for me whenever she plays. Yes, a bit disappointing she didn't win since the match really was in her grasp. But outstanding tennis nonetheless.

Unfortunately to add insult to injury she lost to Hantuchova in 2 sets at Pacific Life Open. My guess is probably because by that point Hantuchova really had a game plan against Hingis having played her only a week before. And the 2 of them know each others games so well, that I guess it really was a no brainer for Hantuchova.

Hingis can't be happy though, I don't think she likes loosing to the same players twice in the same year much less the same month. Here's hoping these two meet for a 3rd time, so Hingis can really get her revenge. Miami is coming up at the end of March wonder if Hantochova has entered that tournament yet.

Hopefully Martina won't let these losses rattle her too much and kicks butt in Miami. I wish her all the best.

Francie joins forces with Mcdreamy's wife

Merrin Dungey
Kate Walsh

I just love it when my favourite actresses from past shows get a gig on upcoming ones:). In this case it's Merrin Dungey who played Sydney Bristow's (Jennifer Garner's) best friend Francie on Alias. She will be joining the cast of Kate Walsh's (Addison Shepard) Grey's Anatomy spin-off on ABC.

No details yet on what type of character she'll be playing. I must say I was happy to see she's finally getting some work.

The last thing I remember seeing her in was the short lived series Summerland. Let's hope this one lasts longer. With two great female leads, it makes you wonder who'll be cast in the male roles.

Another network deal another Buffy alumni

Yes that's right another former Buffy star has signed on for a new t.v. series. This time it is Faith herself Eliza Dushku.

She'll be starring in Fox's upcoming show a comedy/drama called Nurses. Dushku will be playing a main character named Eve. Let's hope it's nothing like Scrubs. 'Cause I'm not a big fan of that show and in my opinion one of them is enough.

I'm actually surprised Eliza has decided to sign a deal with Fox again after how her last show on this very network got killed. Tru Calling was a show I personally loved but, I guess not enough people were watching it. Let's hope Nurses doesn't suffer the same fate.

People need to start paying attention to Eliza she has some great acting chops that extend well beyond her character of Faith.

Hingis storms into 4th round at Pacific Life Open

hingis.org

Well Martina is cruising along in the Pacific Life Open. She's made it into the 4th round with some absolutely spectacular play from what I've read. She beat Austria's Yvonne Meusburger 6-2 6-4.

It seems she's really getting her form back not that she wasn't in-form but there are some significant improvements. Even Martina herself seems surprised with how well she's playing, lets hope it keeps up. Especially in this next match where she'll be facing Daniela Hantuchova.

It's an opportunity for Hingis to get her revenge for losing to Hantuchova at Indian Wells 5 years ago. And yeah, sure that's a while but revenge is revenge.

I'm going to probably sound like a whiner when I say this again, but I wish I could see some of these matches. Why aren't they televised darn it!. I'm missing out on some quality tennis.

Dawn does D.C.

Well it seems Michelle Trachtenberg (Dawn on Buffy) has signed on for a yet unnamed ABC comedy set in Washington D.C. Could be interesting I will definitely be keeping an eye out for it.

It'll be nice to see Michelle do a little comedy instead of drama which I know she's quite good at. I find it weird that so many actors from my favourite shows are doing pilots for ABC.

There is Lucy Lawless (Xena) who's doing a show called "Football Wives". Which is an American version of the U.K. show "Footballers Wives". And then there is Kali Rocha who played the vengeance demon "Helfrek" on Buffy. Who has signed on for a show called "The Call". She's also been on Grey's Anatomy another ABC show.

ABC is green lighting a lot of shows we'll see how many of them survive.

T.G.I.F.

Man, this has been one long week. I am so happy it's the weekend finally I can sleep in, watch the tube and relax. And of course catch up on some tennis news;) since I've been a little out of the loop lately.

Today was a moderately slow day, things picked up in late afternoon but really slowed down in the evening. So much so that I got to go home a half an hour early (yay!).

Well actually it didn't make that big of a difference because my bus still came at 8 so I was home at half past the hour. But hey early is early :).

I promise I'll start writing about something more exciting soon. For those of you who are perhaps getting tired of reading my daily work related rants. I think I'm getting bored of writing them myself lol.

There should be a lot more tennis related stuff coming up in the next few weeks or so especially since we're getting close to the second grand slam of the year Roland Garros.

Another one of those days

Well, today was another one of those excruciatingly slow days. It was so slow I had to get up and walk around just so I wouldn't doze off lol. I honestly can't wait for the weekend I'm exhausted. I just wanna go to bed and sleep and not worry about anything the next morning.

Gotta make more calls tomorrow (yipee) so looking forward to that. And the really sad thing? all the days are starting to run together for me, good thing I have a calendar at work or I wouldn't know what day it was.

Now if I can just get one for myself at home I'll be all set lol.

Hope all of that made sense because I don't have the energy to proof read it lol.

Frigid day

Man, was it cold today!. I walked to the bus stop which is literally a five minute walk and I thought I would turn around and go back because, I couldn't breathe due to the cold air. From what I hear tomorrow is not going to be any better, guess I better bundle up like an Eskimo lol.

On top of that the day was slow as hell at work, virtually no one came in today. So I spent half of it on the phone and the other half forcing myself not to look at the clock every 5 minutes lol.

It's probably why I'm so tired it's funny how boredom tires you out more then actual work. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Now I'm going back to net surfing, the one thing I don't like about working in the afternoons is that it really doesn't leave you with much time for socializing or relaxing.

Martina Hingis Qatar doubles champion!

Martina Hingis and Maria Kirilenko pose after beating A.Szavay/V.Uhlirova 6-1, 6-1

Well she didn't win the singles, but she did manage to snag another doubles title 37th in her career. She won it with Maria Kirilenko. So congrats to her, and I wish her luck in the Pacific Life Open on March 5th. Keep those titles coming! :).

A year ago on this day...

I started this blog, hard to believe I've stuck with it for so long. Didn't think I would but I've enjoyed every minute of it (or should I say every word?=). It's fun for me to go back and read over things from a year ago.

Writing on my blog has also proven to be a great stress reliever. To all my visitors returning and new thanks for sticking around and reading thoughts from my warped little brain. :) I hope all of you continue to visit and maybe even leave a comment now and again.

Here's to another year. *cheers*

Oh, and check out my new do in the profile photo;).

It's the weekend (thank god!!)

I am exhausted, but I have to say that over all I've handled my first week at work pretty well. Still working on some things (like remembering certain rules and things about certain destinations) but over all I think I'm doing good.

Going back and forth between Polish and English is a little weird at times (we get a lot of Polish clients because the place used to be primarily a Polish Travel Agency).

So yeah that's quite challenging sometimes I'll say something in Polish to the person who speaks English and vice versa but thankfully I don't do it very often so no one notices lol. At least not yet.

Some people get very chatty on the phone that's where my patience becomes a real asset. Sometimes I do feel like more of a psychologist then a Travel Agent lol.

Have I mentioned how extremely glad I am that it is the weekend? because I so completely am. I'm also so glad I didn't agree on weekends 5 days a week is draining enough. Especially after a 3 year break.

What a day!!

Could this weather be anymore crappy?. It snowed for half a day. Now we're getting freezing rain. Travelling tomorrow is gonna be a nightmare. I'm glad I got in to work just before it started coming down in buckets this afternoon.

Work was interesting I finally got to use the computer to look up some flight prices, the first half of the day was uneventful, but things got really crazy around 6pm. I just hope I can make it tomorrow. *Sigh* Will this frakkin' winter ever end?.

On another completely unrelated topic Martina Hingis lost to Daniela Hantuchova in 3 sets 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 in the quarters at the Qatar Open. Really surprising she was doing quite well and won the first set, she was even leading in the second then completely went out of the match. Guess she had another one of those strange mental lapses. It's really too bad because Hantuchova is someone Hingis doesn't have a problem beating.

Hopefully she'll do better in the next tournament.

All work and no play

Well, another day, another seven hours of work. I think I'm finally slowly getting the hang of things. Got some feedback today, apparently I sound very professional on the phone but I speak with an accent (in English).

Which I would agree with but I actually don't get that very often, most people tell me I don't have one. I know the only time I do is when I'm either tired or drunk lol. In this case I think it's option 1 lol.

Haven't had much time to check up on tennis this week but Miss Hingis is doing good and has made it to the quarter finals of Qatar Open, yay!. Beating Anabel Medina Garrigues and Maria Kirilenko (who she's actually playing doubles with).

Next she'll face Hantuchova, which should be interesting but Martina is in good form so I think she'll pull through. I'm hoping to watch the matches on the weekend, gotta get my tennis fix:D.
