Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen trailer

I'm not a huge movie goer probably because there just aren't that many great movies these days. At least none that I would wanna make an effort to go and see, or that I truly look forward to.

That being said there are always a few exceptions that spark my interest during the year. Last year it was The Dark Knight, and this year it's Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen.

I will admit that my interest in the film is largely fueled by the fact that (like most kids of the 80's) I was (and I guess in a way still am) a huge Transformers fan. I watched the cartoon, and yes I even had the toys.

I absolutely loved the first movie and thought it was one of the few of that year (2007 I believe) that not only deserved the hype, but lived up to it.

Being a summer blockbuster I didn't have high expectations for it beyond the usual action, blow 'em up special effects and CGI.

What really drew me to it however was the story (any big budget blockbuster movie can do awesome effects these days), but very few have a decent plot.

Casting a relative newcomer like Shia LaBeouf as the main character certainly didn't hurt either ;).

It's hard to tell from the trailer whether the sequel will offer more of the same, but I definitely can't wait to find out!.

Steffi Graf, Andre Agassi, Kim Clijsters to play at the All England Club

Two former WTA Tour world number one stars will be among the first to play under the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club’s new roof at Wimbledon.

The AELTC announced today that a star line-up of Andre Agassi, Stefanie Graf, Kim Clijsters and Tim Henman will become the first to play tennis under the new Centre Court roof as part of its “A Centre Court Celebration” event on Sunday, May 17, 2009.

“With players of the calibre of Agassi, Graf, Clijsters and Henman this test event promises to be hugely entertaining,” Ian Ritchie, Chief Executive of the All England Club said in the announcement.

“Brilliant players, great tennis, an iconic venue and the chance to be part of Wimbledon history – what more could one want?”

The program will feature a men’s singles, a ladies’ singles and a mixed doubles match all played to the pro set format – the first to 8 games, with a tie-break at 8-8.

“There is no tennis venue more special to me than Centre Court at Wimbledon,” said Graf. “It just doesn’t get any better. I couldn’t be more honoured to play there again with my husband Andre, and tennis greats Kim and Tim. It will mean so much to return to Wimbledon and see so many familiar places, relive so many wonderful memories.”

During her legendary career, Graf won 22 Grand Slam singles titles (seven at Wimbledon, six at the French Open, five at the US Open and four at the Australian Open).

“To be asked to be part of this unique event with Andre and Steffi and Tim is very exciting and a real privilege,” said Clijsters.

Clijsters, the 2005 US Open champion, only played Graf once during her career, ironically at Wimbledon in 1999. The fourth round match was delayed for two days because of rain.

The event is designed to test the new roof and air management system with live tennis in front of a capacity crowd of 15,000.

Now that sounds like a dream exhibition!. Perhaps that's another reason Kim got back on the courts (though I am still hoping that rumor of her return to the sport is also true).

No more rain delays at Wimbledon (that may take a while to get used to *lol*).

I bet some of the players who recently retired wish the new roof had been implemented a long time ago.

Happy Birthday Renee O'Connor!!

Best wishes to the Xena alum who turns 38 today. =)

The Amazing Race 14

Yep, CBS has produced another exciting season of my favourite reality show (which I still consider more of a game show really).

Tonight at 8 another 11 teams will set off across the globe for a chance to win a million bucks.

For me half the fun has always been learning about the teams, so here is an amusing profile sum-up of this year's contestants courtesy of theday.com.

Siblings Mark and Michael Munoz: They are short. This gives me great hope for some laughs at the ticket counters.

Siblings Tammy and Victor Jih: They both went to Harvard. Um ... yeah.

Siblings LaKisha and Jennifer Hoffman: They both played division 1 sports at a large southern university. This gives me great hope for some laughs with the short brothers.

Friends Christie Volkmer and Jodi Wincheski: They are blonde and flight attendants. Not US Airways Flight 1549-type flight attendants. More like The Girls Next Door/Hooters Air-type flight attendants.

Former NFL cheerleaders Cara Rosenthal and Jaime Edmondson: With the Miami Dolphins. This gives me great hope for a cheerleader/flight attendant smackdown.

Married couple Brad and Victoria Hunt: They are middle aged. That’s all I can tell so far.

Father and son Mel and Mike White: When Mike was 11, Dad announced he was gay. Mike wrote the screenplays for modern film classics Nacho Libre and School of Rock.

Married couple Linda and Steve Cole: They remind me of the coal miners a couple of seasons back. A girl can dream.

Dating couple Jennifer Hopka and Preston McCamy: They are the ones who are on and off, on and off. They will be annoying.

Dating couple Amanda Blackledge and Kris Klicka: They have never traveled. Like that matters.

Mother and son Margie and Luke Adams: Luke is deaf. Let’s just hope he keeps his fanny pack on his fanny. Unlike another mother/son team we know.

Oh, I can already tell lots of fun will be had. I don't want to jinx it, but this could be the most entertaining season yet.

Also apparently the theme song and graphics will be getting a tune-up this season as well (with Google Maps no less, thumbs up CBS).

Here is the route the teams will be following:

Start: Los Alamitos, California, United States

1. Stechelberg, Switzerland
2. Salzburg, Austria
3. Bran, Romania
4. Krasnoyarsk, Russia
5. Novosibirsk, Russia
6. Jaipur, India
7. Phuket, Thailand
8. Bangkok, Thailand
9. Gurlin, China
10. Beijing, China
11. Beijing, China

Finish: Maui, Hawaii, United States

Interesting the country legs are longer then usual, money saving move perhaps? (would make sense I guess with the world's economy being the way it is).

Definitely looking forward to Russia and Romania.

Song of the Moment: Kelly Clarkson-My Life Would Suck Without You

The perfect song for Valentine's Day, and the video is very couple-y too. Couldn't help but chuckle at the end :D.

On second thought perhaps this one fits the occasion better (for all the single peeps like moi *lol*).
