Feed the minds

The writers strike is in full swing, but so far sadly no progress is being made. Personally I fully support it, because I believe in giving credit where credit is due. Writers are under-appreciated and underpaid by studio executives.

There's actually a lot of misconceptions about how well off writers are. What people don't realize is that they are not actually rich, they make just enough money to survive on a day to day basis like any average person, even though they are in a union.

A refreshing perspective on Hingis

I have seen a lot of negative press in regards to Martina Hingis over the past week, so it was a pleasant surprise when I actually found an article that was mostly positive and complementary.

Gotta say it's a nice change of pace, good to see a piece that not only highlights her accomplishments and abilities as a player, but also shows respect to the person.

Not that that's surprising especially when it comes to the Australian Open, a tournament at which Hingis has many records and many fans as the article illustrates.

She will undoubtedly be very sorely missed at next years tournament. I hope the rest of the grand slams display the same kind of respect towards her next year because she certainly deserves it.

More on Hingis drug drama

Found a great article that shines a little more light on the Hingis doping allegations. It's important to note that she does in fact plan to fight this. So to all those thinking otherwise you were wrong :P.

Actually I'm confused on why even the press seemed to think Hingis's statement meant she was not going to fight these allegations, certainly seemed like the exact opposite to me. I took it as her saying she would not fight and play tennis at the same time hence the retirement.

And I was obviously right:). Plus, hiring a lawyer? kind of a tip off if you ask me. I don't think anyone hires a lawyer unless they plan to take legal action.

I'm going to point out some key things in this article that I thought really hit the nail on the head.

"You can argue cocaine is a performance-enhancing drug only in theory, given that
it's essentially a social drug, most often accompanying a late night of
partying. If anything, it would hurt Hingis, not help her".

Thank yoiu! that is exactly what I have been saying ever since hearing about the news, another reason why I just do not believe she's in any way guilty.

"If you were wondering why Hingis came forward before any official announcement,
former No. 1 Lindsay Davenport had the answer last week: it's the kind of
blockbuster news that almost always gets leaked, especially with someone so
high-profile".

I knew there was a reason I liked this player:).

"Perhaps Hingis remembers two years ago, when news that popular Russian
player Svetlana Kuznetsova had tested positive for ephedrine was unfairly leaked
by Belgium's sports minister. Never mind that it was during the offseason, at an
exhibition (why were they testing there, anyway?) and that she was perfectly
within the rules to take the cold medicine that led to the positive test".

There you go, these guys will find any excuse to destroy a player's reputation, never mind if it's for the right reasons. I said it before and I'll say it again there's definitely something fishy going on and I hope Hingis's lawyer gets to the bottom of it.

Hingis retires once more:(

Well, I can't say I was shocked when I heard Martina Hingis is hanging up her racket for the second time in her career. I knew this day would come again I just didn't think it would be so soon.

The drug allegations however definitely give me a pause, and for the record no I do not believe they're true. She's always been too respectable a player, and worked too hard to end her career in such a way. I believe in her innocence and I honestly think someone is trying to set her up.

Hell, Hingis didn't even have to leak any of this information to the press on the same day in the first place, but felt she had to to prove her innocence.

Having read several articles with statements from Hingis I really can't say I blame her for wanting to retire ( her physical ailments aside), who wants to deal with drug allegations under constants scrutiny of the press every single day for what I would guess at this point could be years.

As she states in one of the articles it's not exactly a great motivational factor. This is a very sad day for tennis the sport is once again loosing one of it's greatest competitors. The brilliance Hingis displayed on court is unmatched and will no doubt be missed by her fans and by everyone at the WTA.

Well, I finally developed some of the photos that have been sitting in my camera for at least a year lol, (and yes I know there are digital cameras now).

Joss Whedon returns to t.v.!!

That's right the brilliance behind Buffy and Angel is coming back with fellow Buffy alum Eliza Dushku (Faith) in tow. Whedon and Dushku are teaming up for a new show called Dollhouse. I have to say the premise is interesting definitely something that can only come from the mind of Joss Whedon.

If you read my blog then you know that I think of the man as a creative genius. It's a no brainer. I also remember mentioning my extreme disappointment on the cancellation of another Dushku Fox series Tru Calling (I'm still not over it). I think she's an excellent, underrated actress. Leave it to Joss Whedon to recognize her full potential.

Of course with the t.v. strike happening any day now it remains to be seen when exactly this new series will air. But again it's exciting news nonetheless. We need creative minds like Joss more then ever these days so we can eliminate the sadness that is reality t.v.
