LONDON, England - Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza powered into the doubles final at Wimbledon, needing just 56 minutes to beat Raquel Kops-Jones and Abigail Spears in the semifinals, 6-1, 6-2.

The No.1-seeded Hingis and Mirza converted four of their six break points - and fought off all three of the ones they faced themselves - to beat the No.5-seeded Americans, who had beaten Australian Open and French Open champions Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Lucie Safarova a round before.

Hingis and Mirza, who have three WTA doubles titles together at Indian Wells, Miami and Charleston, are now through to their first Grand Slam doubles final together. Hingis has a 9-3 record in Grand Slam doubles finals - she has four Australian Opens, two French Opens, two Wimbledons and a US Open to her name. Meanwhile, Mirza is going for her first Grand Slam doubles title - she's 0-1 in finals.

Awaiting Hingis and Mirza in the final will be No.2 seeds Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina, who battled more than two hours to edge No.4 seeds Timea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.

Makarova and Vesnina are two-time Grand Slam champions, winning the 2013 French Open and 2014 US Open. They were runners-up at the 2014 Australian Open (to Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci).

"Our last two matches were so tough, and we were losing in the third round all the time before this year, so we're really happy to be in the final. It's our first time going this far here," Makarova said.

"It's just so special, too. Wimbledon is such a different tournament to all of the others. It has so much history, it's a special surface, special clothes, and there are always so many fans coming here too.

"We're really proud we've gotten to the final and we're hoping we can play a good final."

Hingis and Mirza have beaten Makarova and Vesnina in both of the pairs' previous meetings, both this year and both in finals - 6-3, 6-4 in the Indian Wells final and then 7-5, 6-1 in the Miami final.

"They're a really good team. They've been playing really well this year," Makarova said.

"We've played two finals against them already, at Indian Wells and Miami, and they beat us in both of them, but we're hoping tomorrow will be third time lucky. Hopefully we can win the title here."
